No it flies into the Worldstone. The big image kind of fades, abut all the small ones dart into it afterwards. There may be some significance to that.
Wait, so the Worldstone sort of became Baal's Soulstone? I never even thought of that. Even more reason for the epic nukage that Tyrael did.
And since we know that the Prime Evils know how to corrupt the soulstones they aren't useful anymore. We have to find another way to banish them. Kind of curious what Blizzard can come up with.
Despite the lore of diablo concerning angles, I think that blizzard will have to find a very good reason for us to want to kill angels, possibly corruption like Marcus suggested. I think too many people would find it odd to be killing angles not to mention any real life implications this would cause issues with.
Don't get me wrong, I want to kill angels and with diablo's lore, there may be reason to. But the idea could be troubling for many. I know religous groups that already have a problem with the game and you are fighting demons from hell. Imagine the uproar if they turned it to a fight agains the heavens.
Why do we care what religous groups think of a video game? I really want to seal off heaven from sanctuary in the expansion. Weather it means killing them or finding a way to hide sanctuary from both heaven and hell as a last result. Trag'Oul might uncover a way to shield sanctuary or move it. Perhaps the only way to keep the balance is to have sanctuary destroyed. But either way heaven is a problem and it has to be dealt with.

I don't but corporations do. Many companies have had products go nowhere because of religious out cries. Sadly, we live in an ignorant world. Back in the day, if walmart (who had very large religious ties) refused to sell a cd, the sales would drop about 25%. Not as major now with digital download from the company itself but I am sure it is something they still have to concern themselves with.

I'm with Scyber that killing angels isn't the best marketing manoeuvre. Killing demons is something we see all the time in a lot of media, but killing angels? A lot of people will be offended by this; not just the extremely voiced religious groups.
Come on guys. IT makes sense from a lore standpoint that eventually we will have to deal with the angels. Weather we kill them or what. The balance has to remain intact somehow. I mean for the last 2 games we have been stopping the demons from making an outpost of hell into our world. The only connection we have with heaven really is Tyrael. I highly doubt heaven is just sitting around watching this all happen passivley. The angels are going to act and we have to do something. I dont care about those dang corporations even if they do outcry against it can they really ban the game? I dont get it lol.

It's all about presentation. They just have to smack some talk about "corrupt" or "fallen" in there and everything will be fine and dandy. Because then suddenly we'd be killing the baddies, like Satan. Awsum!!11
Strictly speaking, that probably eliminates any chance of us ever fighting an angel that is simply out to destroy Sanctuary because humans are perceived as a threat. But you can bandy with words and reasons pretty well here. If Imperius is a threat, you could pull out this idea that he's defying the will of the rest of Heaven (which was established at the end of tVP), label him an outcast, renegade or some such. Add some menacing color changes and thematic ideas and I think you could sell it. Even better, have the "true" angels call them by a name other than angel, and you'll have removed so much semblence that a lot of people will just go "fallen angel" and move on.
PlugY for Diablo II allows you to reset skills and stats, transfer items between characters in singleplayer, obtain all ladder runewords and do all Uberquests while offline. It is the only way to do all of the above. Please use it.

The expansions will probably end with the ultimate defeat of the Prime Evils so the story becomes open to other ultimate evils. Then they can continue the franchise in some form without having to rehash the same thing over and over again.
Yes, there will probably be some large-scale epic battle between Heaven and Hell. It's been echoed in the books, in the games, but we've never seen it. It's essentially what all of the other stuff is leading up to--an end to the Sin War, is my guess.

Exactly. Afterall, what are demons in Judaic lore? C'mon religious buffs I know you know the answer! They're fallen angels!!!!!!!
But anyway...I think, presented as corrupt angels, it would be fine. There will still be some uproar but that's ok. There's always a few critics. And honestly, it would be so cool to fight angels. So very different ya'know?

What I think is going to happen for certain is that Sanctuary will be established as a third power alongside Heaven and Hell. What I'm not so sure about it whether or not the Three will die. It's the equivalent of killing Sargeras and all the Old Gods in Warcraft. Suddenly there are no more baddies. And if you managed to slay them, anything left is by definition weaker and shouldn't be much of a problem.
There's also the clear difference between the top tier angels and demons (Angiris/Three) compared to their servant. They are portrayed as incredibly powerful in comparison to their servants. I just don't see Diablo dying and Astrogha stepping up to the plate.
I suspect what we'll see is a widening of the cosmology. There are hinted to be many more worlds other than Sanctuary. The Three and the Angiris won't be destroyed per se, but may have their roles redefined in the grander scheme of things somehow. So any eventual Diablo IV won't have us figthing Diablo, but he'll still be around in some form.

Well, maybe it's just me but I've always been skeptical as to Sargeras actually being completely dead. I still feel like we'll see him again at some point.

It's not what you care about, it's what the general public cares about.
I think corruption would be kinda weak. I mean Inarius wasent corrupt he was just tired of fighting and so were many others. He got shit on for that. Imperius is not corrupt he just does not trust humans and cant see past the demon in them. He just has a angry personality and fears that humans will be a huge threat to his people. Man this corrupt angel buisness is really kinda lame. Its not about being corrupt or evil its about personality and beliefs. So Imperius might belive something that others dont believe. That does not make him evil or corrupt. (He could be insane but thats about it)

So he decided to try something new that made him crazy? I belive he got crazy from the belief that he was the most powerfulest thing on sanctuary. Then he got a rude awakening and was in huge denial. Believing that the war between heaven and hell was pointless is not crazy. He got crazy over time. If lilith didnt slaughter everyone then he probably would not have gone totally insane. Originally he was not crazy for making sanctuary he became insane from all the years on sanctuary believing he was better than everything else.
