Okay well, I was thinking about many elements in other games to borrow from and build off of so they are completely different but still original.
The first one was water, I think I read somewhere that more water will be in diablo three? And that you will be able to interact with it more. Maybe there will be a class that can use water attacks, but I can't really think of many water attacks.
The other one I thought of was arcane, there are so many things you can do with arcane. The class name could be called "cultist" or something along those lines. This character reminds me of a necromancer a lot though, and I don't know if blizzard would want two characters similar to the necromancer (referring to the witchdoctor).
Wow, I really love your idea for a Cultist class. It is probably the most fun sounding class proposal I have heard so far. He would be kind of evil like the necromancer but have all kinds of crazy arcane spells...I feel he should have a lot of synergistic effects with his spells too. I dont mean like, one skill increases dmg of another, but more like...one skill could call some arcane effect and another spell could have a totally different effect, but if the 2nd is called while the first is still happening then a 3rd cool effect happens.
His skill tree could be something like this:
- Sacrifices: each sacrifice works only on a particular corpse type, and would grant some long-lasting buff
- Magicks: attacks that do arcane damage, like arcane style lightning bolts, thunder clouds, mind control, etc
- Chants: modifies the effect of his MAgick spells that are currently in effect. each chant would effect each Magick in a different way. so, for example, if there were 10 magick skills, and 5 chants, then there would be a total of 50 unique combinations

Yeah i also liked your idea. I support all the ideas of a non-elemental spell caster.
I've also liked mahamoti idea for a new mechanic. Creat a caster with neutral spells in a tree and other tree with spells that chnage the first tree. Hmm like:
-Arcane Bolt: A basical project.
-Force Field: A invisible bone wall i guess.
-Magick Shield: Increase your defense.
Change to Fire: Change your spells to the fire element.
So Arcane Bolt become Fire Bolt/Ball.
Force Fieldl become a fire wall.
Shield become a shield that burn enemy that gets close to you.
Change to Lightning
Arcane Bolt become charged bolts.
Magic wall become some type of eletricity trap.
Shield becomes a shield that porcs static field whenever you get hited.
Change to Blood
Arcane bolt becomes a Blood Star.
Magick Wall becomes a wall of blood ?
Shield becomes a circle around you that drain the hp of monster that are close to you.
Etc...
He would satisfy the ppl who want different spellcaster nad the ppl who wnat the soc.
But there is a few problems with this class.
First is: Blizz said that all tree will be pretty independent each other. We will not have trees like ''passive skills''. It will be all mixed, for easy character creation (you cna just choose one of the trees and put points tehre and you get a playable build).
Second is: This class would have much more skills then the others. It would not be fair =(
These are all great ideas, keep em' coming.
I really like the arcane lightning bolt type attack.
How about an "arcane field" attack that causes all enemies to be slowed in a certain range. The higher the skill the more slow they become and the larger the range.
This just might be too overpowered for PvP, so I don't know if Blizzard would go for it.
i would love to see water spells with the new engine that would own...
