I'm not sure if there are Dragoons in Diablo lore but they might work as a palidin replacement. They can be male or female and can wear heavy armor. The Drag could also use a shield and spear or lance maybe take the polearm away from the Barb.

Wouldn't that be a bit of a problem though? If you're talking about "Dragoon" as in "Foot soldier" then their primary weapon is a musket. Wouldn't exactly be historically correct. If that even matters.
Yeah, the legend of dragoons, I still have a disk, lost the rest, loved it.
There's more than one dragoon.
Plus, it'd be so flashy , DIVINE DRAGOON CANNON.
Legend of Dragoon, great game. but not for Diablo 3

Pure fantasy things like dragons, goblins, orcs, trolls, faeries, unicorns atc.. don't fit santuary's lore.
I would like to see this world restricted to humons, demons, undeads and angels.
that's a good point. however, i don't think dragons are really a main focus in Diablo. Diablo strays away from most cliches, and when it does adopt a cliche, it twists it into its' own creation. all the demons and whatnot seems very customized. they used lesser-known ideas and customized them into very uniquely-Diablo ideas.
drgons really don't fit as an actualy enemy or anything. note how they are only mentioned as a sort of legend, and only one is mentioned for that matter. dragons seem a little too "light-hearted" for diablo, ya know? they've been used and abused by way too many games and movies over the years, that just the mention of a dragon seems cliche. even WoW, which is heavily fantasy-based, uses them pretty sparingly.

No Duh, still wishing for Legend of Dragoons 2 =(.

There are the fetish, the wendigo, sabrecats, sand raiders, claw vipers, thorned hulks, willowisp, tentacle beast, and lots more.
There may be dragons in sanctuary somewhere. Claw Vipers and Tentacle Beasts are reptilian.
So fantasy "races" do exist. I don't think a Dragoon class would be right for the Diablo franchise though.
First they'd have to introduce dragons, and then they'd have to throw in dragoons as a class. Which seems kind of inconsistent to put in both at once.
