I think it is a given that a ranged archetype will be one of the remaining two classes to be revealed. It's simple RPG dynamics.
However, what makes everyone think a "holy" or a "light" character will be one? I know that the next likely "light" character would probably be a Zakarumite from what I read on here...but again, why would a "holy" archetype character be one of the two?

It is possible that one of the remaining character classes be a Zakarumite, but it is not possible that the class be called "Zakarumite." Blizzard have made themselves very clear that all classes will have names that are immediately recognized and understood by people who know nothing about Diablo lore.

You know what I meant, hehe :p.
But, from what I read on here, people are dead-set that a holy character will be on of the two remaining classes. I just want to hear why they think this as opposed to some other possibility.
This is not to say that there won't be one in the expansion pack(s).
Well I can't find any sceenshots for verification I think they all disappeared, but didn't the stat screen have a holy resistance? or something like that?
well I think anyone that is dead set on getting a very specific type of class is in a pretty good position to be disappointed.
that said, it is my personal opinion that we can expect a "gothic" themed character, for the simple reason that diablo as a game is firmly rooted in gothic mythos. while the game world is certainly branching out beyond those classic constraints, I think it's a fair bet to believe one of the characters will still draw from that tradition.
now, that's not to say that a "gothic" character needs to be a holyman. however, since religious ideas are at the heart of both the gothic mythos and the diablo games, it would, at the very least, be a good fit.
so, that may not be why other people believe we've got a good chance of seeing a character that is roughly of that "type," but it is why I believe it!
thank you, thank you, and I would like to bash in a demon's skull with the decorative end of a massive, iron cross.

Hm...I can't say that I have the impression anyone is expecting a holy character. I think people are expecting a ranged character because Diablo always needs one of those, as well as a knightly character because that is the most classic figure.
Personally I think it makes a lot of sense to mix the ranged character with some of the woodland druidic aspects so that's why I am expecting the next two classes to be the Ranger and the Knight.
Well I can't find any sceenshots for verification I think they all disappeared, but didn't the stat screen have a holy resistance? or something like that?
I was thinking the same thing. If there is indeed holy damage there needs to be a class with at least a good portion of a skill tree dedicated to that.
I know ive said this before but what if the Knight was a heaven or hell character. like a pally necro aligned. You could choose your skill tree as either one or a mix of the 2. He would kind of be a deathknight. Does anyone remember the pictures in that lore book on the diablo website. He is a knight with skull armour.

I don't feel like sifting through a large portion of screenshots from Blizzcon but I do remember there being a holy resistance screenshot. I would love to see a character that wields holy based magic and is a bit more ranged based than the paladin of D2.
Why doesn't someone just take the time and go find those pictures/videos showing, once and for all, which resistances were actually present during the alpha. It would probably be simpler than constructing an entire thread around a speculation/misinterpretation.
Just an idea though....:offtopic:

Dimebog is correct. And even if there were a 'holy' damage type, that would not be evidence for a playable holy class -- it would be evidence for monsters that do holy damage, meaning that you were fighting a war against rebellious angels. But that isn't the case anyway.
In diablo ''holy'' and ''unholy'' spells do the same type of damage: magic (in D1 and D2) and theorically arcane in D3.
However even without this ''formal'' difference of ''unholy'' and ''holy'' we can cleary see that some paladins attacks have sacred nature (like holy bolt, blessed hammer)..
So i guess a a''light'' class means someone that use sacred arts, even if it uses some elemental attacks.
Correct me if i'm wrong, but wasn't all holy damage in D2 lightning damage? I'm not sure, I need to find my book. If i'm right and lightning damage is still present in D3 as shown in Dimebog's reply, then I think it's possible we may see some sort of a paladin or knight class either as one of the yet to be announced classes or in an expansion.

Nope, it was magic. However that doesn't prevent it from being Lightning damage in D3.
PlugY for Diablo II allows you to reset skills and stats, transfer items between characters in singleplayer, obtain all ladder runewords and do all Uberquests while offline. It is the only way to do all of the above. Please use it.
Supporting big shoulderpads and flashy armor since 2004.

Another idea is that you reserve the privilege to not engage in threads you aren't interested in.

Well the problem is the place where they were originally at and everyone linked from has got rid of the pictures. So I can't find them ANYWHERE anymore.
I'm pretty sure someone mentioned there being a holy resistance though. I'll try to ask around.
Even if there was a Holy damage, in the WWI video we can't see a holy resist place in the resistance bar.
Another important detail, is the fact that in D2 and in WoW they have allread used elements that have no resistance. In D2 theres a Magic damage, but no magic resistance gear or place in the status window. In wow also theres a holy damage, but again, you cannot get resistance against it.
So nothing can stop blizz from add a holy damage spells but not the ressitance once they have allready done that 2 times (if you don't count chaos damage in war3 !!).

Here's an Idea for your witless and "off point" comment.
If you knowingly post fraudulent information and such claiming it to be true, we hold the right to immediately remove your account from this site. News about Diablo3 should be posted in the proper area of the forum so that staff members can overlook its validity before it is released to the public. Often what someone believes to be new, is in fact old.
Although the moderators of Dfans.com cannot apply this rule on ignorant speculation since it would be posted unknowingly, if they could however, they probably would be inclined to remove more than half of the BS that folks spew out on a daily basis...
Now This is part of the Forum Etiquette. And actually, most civilized discussions or debates in the modern world would agree on giving facts over hearsay. What they are doing can be closely related to gossiping, something that controversy mongers and women like to do. So if you think trying to find factual information is needless then you are reserved the right to not comment in these forums as well.
Please be constructive and respect another member's right to want to know the truth. I only asked for someone to verify before posting, so we may not be led to believe otherwise. To which I was politely and respectfully answered by Daemaro. You should try to follow suit.

There's no 'holy' damage in Diablo.

I dont remember seeing any resistance bar or symbols in WWI videos.
