And what isn't styled after real life or culture? What are you trying to say exactly?

I'm saying that for Blizzard to make a new area in Sanctuary that has asian influences and then make a playable samurai class is not out of the question. Not to say that I even want a samurai class.

same here. also to have a new culture Blizz must some how put them into Sanctuary's history and have skills that fit that class.

And in my opinion theres no reason to think that they can't, it's just if they will.
Exactly XD

lol it can still easily be a ranger since who said you cant shoot arrows at melee distance xD

The Barbarian is from Arreat, a very cold snowy mountain top, but they are much tougher than normal humans, so they don't need warmth.

Where are Barbarians originally from? Sumeria, or more specifically Mesopotamia, AKA Europe. Think the Alps and the Pyrenees
nobody know who live on Xiansai for all we know it could be a deserted
I doubt they put a name on the island just to say it's abandoned. Also there is a asian looking town in the artwork trailer, let me see if I can find the picture.

16 seconds in. Unfortunately I don't have the high res trailer but you can see a Asian style dragon off to the top right on a building.
It's also a cold town which would coincide with it being in the north like you said in another thread.
no for the samurai. Though I think it is a marvelous idea, I'm beginning to doubt it would work in-game. As someone who trains in unarmed combat, the idea of two classes that rely on melee weapons in the same game disgusts me. I'll stick to mages and ranged fighters.
Barbarian is a general term used to describe many types of warriors. Rogue is a general term aswell. Amazon is the fem form for barbarian so it works too.
Samurai, on the other hand, is very specific and something deeply rooted in a regional earth based culture. Just as bad as having a "viking" class. See my point?
Kind of but why couldn't they call it something else? Just like how Baldur's Gate called them Kensai.
And Amazons aren't female barbarians really. They come from the Amazon Rain Forest.
Kenzai ruled!Btw, could those wear shields? Can't remember...
Ehh it's been a few years I can't remember. I doubt it though. They couldn't wear armor.
Anyway a Samurai like class could fit the skills aspect of a paladin though. Offensive and defensive strategies/formations and then a attack tree. Or maybe the Samurai class could be a ranged class. They did use bows quite often also. Of course it would have a bow tree, a slightly melee tree like the Amazon had with the one tree I forget what it was called, and another tree.

Kensai in BG2 were not allowed to use any armour at alll. Not sure about bracers though.
I doubt we'll see the barbarian using shields, the witch doctor probably not so much either, the archer most certainly not, so that leaves the "support" and the caster.
If they make the samurai the ranged class that leaves the support to use shields. If they make the samurai the support that leaves the caster using shields, which is kind of iffy also because they use staffs a lot usually.
There may not even be any shield skills in D3 though. They only fit well with the paladin because well...he was the paladin. In Diablo most classes don't seem as shield reliant. Sure they can use them but the paladin had skills he trained with it.
Well if there is a shield/one hand type character I doubt they'll bring back the paladin just for the sake of the storyline, it'd be interesting to see what the paladin is doing now besides slaying demons.
That makes me think though what other classes could utilize the shield and weapon combo interestingly?
The knight just sounds boring it would lack the magic typed damage the paladin had with Fist of the Heavens, Blessed Hammer, Holy Bolt, Elemental Auras, etc etc.
Maybe a spellsword type class. Has some buffs kind of like the auras and sorc buffs, some shield skills that are unique maybe elemental shield enchants that can cause elemental damage, and a few other things, I think that would be cool.
Something like that yes. I also think blizz is trying to create new classes rather than redoing the old ones. Even though the pala , in essence, was sort of a "spellsword" they have probably come up with something new and exciting yet still very familiar.
Yeah the paladin is basically a holy typed spellsword.
I don't think they want to reuse anything if it can be avoided though. They already have the classes made they just don't want to share them with us.
They said the others were playable back at Blizzard HQ.
Also I'm sure the old classes will all have places in the storyline which I can't wait to see.
Exactly XD
Weill we see a Samurai class? Maybe not, but I'm pretty sure we're going to see a Asian like culture.

Oh you mean like Barbarian or Rogue?
They might not use the name Samurai but a warrior based off of a samurai could work.

Couldn't wear gauntlets or bracers either.

Don't really know yet.
There will be a paladin or a certain shield-wielding knight class. I have no doubts in my mind about that.

not at all
samurai's are the most overrated character design of all.
"to the worm in horseradish, the world is horseradish."
Fuck you, I'm a dragon.
and they all have outrageous abilities and skills.
not to mention the history of samurai doesnt tie in with diablo.
