My beliefs on Hell are quite a bit different than what even a lot of mainstream religions teach. I think of the fire and brimstone references as more akin to descriptions on how you'd feel emotionally. I don't take it so literally as many tend to. Hell is more of a state of mind in other words.
Well, if the state of mind dies it's called a spiritual death. I guess you could liken it to the 9th level of hell, the worst possible outcome. Only the select few people who know for a fact that God exists (ie. they've met and spoken to him ect. like Moses or Cain) and then choose to still deny him and openly rebel (like Lucifer) will experience this spiritual death where one ceases to exist.
That's what I believe, but to believe that one also has to believe that consciousness extends beyend death in the form of one's soul.
Yes, but if the mind dies, you don't feel or think anything. It can defintely be horrifying to imagine not being there in the mind. But sometimes, to me, it doesn't seem bad at all.
and to respond to Lord Mantis; if anyone ever could know for a fact that god exists, then the thought of heaven and hell are not necesary anymore because the use of faith or believe would be useless.
That's a little confusing (I know that wasn't directed to me), but if you believe in something as a fact, and it is based on faith, can it not be both for a person?
That logic is flawed. Basically you're saying that if you know for a fact that God or the Devil exists (something only available to someone who has actually seen them in person) that it means they don't exist. Does that mean that if I met Doppel or Siaynoq in person that they'd cease to exist? I say no, and I know I'm right because I have met Siaynoq in person...and he's still around.
As for making choices irrelevant, I think that's backwards too. The reason that the most of humanity never meets God or Satan in person is because the choices you make afterward become even more important. The more you know, the greater your responsibility becomes.
It's like comparing yourself to a child, you obviously know more about the world than a younger person. If you're sitting somewhere with a child that doesn't know a rattlesnake is poisonous and don't warn them not to go pet the "cool" little snake you're likely going to get sued by that kid's parents. The more you know the better off you are in life, but if you still insist on making bad choices even when you know them to be bad, the worse you end up.
Wich one is the devil?
Anyways, if we supposedly where god/devil, we wouldnt exist in the first place, so you couldnt meet us, even if you had extreem belief in us.
Thats why the logic in my filosofical thinking is flawed, because i use something that cant be true.
One thing I've never heard an atheist do is prove that God doesn't exist. In my opinion it takes more belief and "faith" to be atheist than it does to actually believe in God.

Well, I've never heard either side prove anything really. But it is strange how obsessed with God atheists can be sometimes.
Perhaps they had a bad upbringing
Quote from "Doppelganger" »
Wait people believe in something no one ever proved and its up to the people who dont believe that to prove it doesnt exist?
That doesnt make sense, lets say i believe in a little green man with three eyes putting thoughts into everyones heads and no one can see the creature, now you prove to me that that isnt true, if you cant my believe is true.
Well, if you want to disprove that God cannot possible exist, then yes, since religion doesn't need to be proved, because who ever said God obeyed any rules of our Universe? In fact, how do we even know that logic as we know it would apply to such a being?
