Weather in Diablo III is a must in my book. Weather just adds another degree of realism to a game and gives it a touch that nothing else can do. If weather actually had an effect on the environment or player the game would be turning into something great. Greatness is what Blizzard strives for and I hope they went in this direction since it would have such a big impact on the game, although subtle enough so that it can't be to annoying if someone didn't like it.

Strange how there are so many clearer ideas on what Hell might be like. But to imagine Heaven is so much more difficult to conceptualize.
I think I can help you here.
Religion was based on humanity for a cause, that cause was forced conformity and/or basic principles of basic living. Religion used fear as a motivator and hell is that fear, which is why it is so well known and described in such great detail, and as for heaven all you need to know is that it is a great place that you want to be at.

That didn't help me much at all. I guess though I can just picture a place with thousands of nubile women in loincloths. But that's less ambient and more of a direct thing I want to see.

If there is weather in a game, often you get the option to turn it off, or at least turn down the effects.

That may be the case but I'd rather be in some huge gothic hall than floating on some cloud.

I do picture the High Heavens as always being flooded with this radiant golden light. And even if there's a rainstorm the light still manages to penetrate all the clouds.

Ha, yeah, whatever floats your boat.

Yeah I guess that weather would not really ever be a problem.
Also I think you would wanting something such as Valhalla, kind of a heaven for Norse gods and warriors.

But it would have been cool to have seen it in act 2. Wind damaged statues, but no wind? That's weird.

Well, I could even talk seriously and personally about sex without saying something akin to, "My girlfriend and I have had sexual intercourse not once, not twice, but thrice. During these times I had inserted my penis in and out of her vagina and ejaculated accordingly. I gently sobbed afterwards while she held me in her arms. This has all brought us closer together."
Limitation of the game are naturally the fault here, that and who really wants to spend hours on end coding wind just to make a game seem more real. That's a lot of work for something the over whelmingly vast majority of people will not care about.
You really need to be someone like me to appreciate something like that. Pking, has never been my forte, I don't care for it, I admit it's nature and has it's place, I'm just not interested in it, I find myself drawn to the environment, story and characters.
Act II has some pretty spectacular locations, stoney tombs, lush oasises, dark sewers, a glimming palace, and lots of wonderful statues and obelisks. But as you move through the act, you start to notice some of them are damaged, and not like is so part of them had just fallen off, that would leave brick layers, and rough horrible edges (oh there is some of that to be sure), these things have smooth filed down faces. Only thing that can do that is a hammer and chisel or wind and sand. Lot's of sand in the desert. And as I explained in another thread, about why Khanduras is grassland and Aranoch a desert, we have a pretty strong basis to assume there is wind in the desert too.
I am by no means disproving your point, as wind is pretty unpredictable, it is highly possible for you to get a day with no wind, even in the desert, and yes indeed, the character/s in the the game could be in act 2 on one of these days.
I just find it strange it is very unclear whether wind in present in that act, they could have had ripples on the surface of a slightly larger oasis, so you could actually see them. That would certainly confirm the presence of wind.

Believe it or not i liked all of those ideas except for the gust of wind. I think it be cool to have the snow and rain affect your speed, and the sandstorm affect the visibility. But i wouldn't want to have loot blown around thats silly. i wouldn't mind it so much if the gusts pushed the character back, but not move items when your trying to pick them up, that would get annoying.
