Well, my CS and SC playing had successfully shut down due to my horrible wireless internet connection that I will have for another half-year... I want a new game to play and I really don't know what to get because I'm not hearing of anything good recently. So, what are you guys all playing right now?
I want a game that is:
- already out long enough for quite a few people to finish it;
- 2006-2007, no older than that;
- doesn't require Vista/DirectX 10;
- not a MMORPG or browser game, not multiplayer-centered (e.g., Unreal Tournament);
- not a console game - I love console games but I don't have a console;
- not extremely rare so I'll have trouble finding it;
Yeah, I think that's it... I'm pretty sure there are some games out and that there is one among them which I will find playable.
P.S.: please do not recommend Two Worlds because I tried that already.
I wish I could recommend something good for you. But the only games I've bought in the past couple years have been console games. And some of the best games I could recommend are definitely older than a couple years old.
When I first played Doom 3, I really didn't think I liked it. I hated how dark it was and things would always jump out at you. But I've come to really love that game. I occasionally will replay it all the way through, and when I do, I even kind of dread it cause it's such an unnerving game.
But I'm out of ideas for you. I'm sure Halo 3 will be for the PC as well, but you don't like that game do you?
Bioshock is too new at the moment.
Loki is not out yet.
I played Medal of Honor before and it was pretty bad...
I don't think Overlord is out yet...
I played Rome: Total War - not my thing.
Supreme Commander is a mass RTS and I never liked those - I'm a bad microer.
Yeah, I'm picky.
Please, I need something that is THERE, I want to play NOW. If I wanted to look forward to something, I have Crysis, StarCraft II, King's Bounty and others... but I want a game now...
Well you haven't mentioned Armed Assault, may be just your kind of thing .
I have no idea what that is. Looks like a multiplayer game, does it have any SP? I can't play multiplayer with my current wireless, it sucks big time. Steel walls in this damn house.

Hmm. Maybe you should consider starting a Gametap account then.
I tried to play F.E.A.R. twice and both times I got bored with all these copy-pasted corridors. This game has the worst design I have ever seen. Not to mention that all those stupid "horror" effects were annoying and distracting from the actual game. I would play this game multi because it has fun combat, but, as I have said before:
"Well, my CS and SC playing had successfully shut down due to my horrible wireless internet connection that I will have for another half-year..."
The horror effect are kinda in there for a point, they aren't distracting at all for me... I think it might be just you. I don't know what you're talking about when you say copy-pasted corridors though...
Half-Life/2?
BTW, F.E.A.R Extraction Point is an expansion I think, it might not of come out before 2006. But who cares if it did? Amazing graphics, way better then lots of Single-Player FPS'. Sheesh, what's with the 2006-2007 thing.

The horror effects are crap. But I guess you like Saw and all that other crap, too. I hate horror in the form of blood or gore or screaming or whatever. I need suspense, I need message, so, no thanks, that's cheap horror. There is Silent Hill for that rubbish. I'm sorry, you made me say it.
The corridors are all similar, that's what I mean. They all have white walls, they all have same chair model, same everything, they are identical anywhere you look. Half the time I thought I was going in circles because everything looked so damn similar. If you have anything to say about F.E.A.R.'s originality regarding design, please see heXen II. But even HL and FarCry and DooM 3 have better indoor design.
And I'm just finishing HL2, I'm in the citadel, throwing computer parts at a bunch of combiners. Great game, BTW, I like it a lot better this time. 2004 was a good year.
LOL?!!?!?!?! Take this for suspense. It's night in RL, and you're playing F.E.A.R in a really dark vent. You are heading toward this fan in the vent with no sides to turn off to. Once you reach the fan all of a sudden your vision blurs, and the fan with the wall moves back randomly. You continue toward it more, and this little alien thing runs across the vent all of a sudden. That's suspense IMO. I bet you didn't even play two whole lvls of F.E.A.R. Also, like I said, Extraction Point is a lot different then the other F.E.A.R game. I've seen both and played both, Extraction Point is way freakier. There is more freakier stuff in F.E.A.R in just one lvl that i described. Like you're going down this hall it's all quiet and half way your vision all of a sudden goes weird blue and all these aliens are charging at you on the ceiling and it's all in slow mo (you can't move)... that's where the demo ends though, so I don't know if you fight any of em, or if that's just a short cinematic and then you just wake-up chained or something... lol. I'm sorry if you don't think this is suspenseful and scary, but I do. And the original F.E.A.R wasn't that bad to me either, but in the demo, graphics and scaryness nothing campared to Extraction Point.
Anyways, yeh, I've seen a bit of Half-Life 2, and I've played #1. I want to play and own Half-Life 2 sometimes. Go through it once properly, then fool around with cheats (you can do some halarious and fun things with em!) I never use cheats to do the whole Campaign, because IMO that's just... lame..., it's lame, sad, and definitly not challenging
EDIT: And in fear, there is lots of blood, no gore that I saw, and no screaming. It's suspenseful, non-cheap horror. You underestimate F.E.A.R (extraction point?)
