Siaynoq, all I can tell you that between a Russian and an American there is a much larger gap than between a Russian and a Ukraininan...
No duh. But if a Russian wanted to distinguish oneself more from a Ukrainian, nationalism allows one to do so since the measures of a nation are so broad. But what, now we're talking about this?

Nationality.
Nation-ality.
America=nation.
There is still a difference between a nation and a state. America as either are two different things.

Yes, but Americans have their own unique culture, our own style. We are the melting pot of the world, we eat all the foods, celebrate each other's holidays, and for the most part we have our own style of doing things. That is another argument I'll add to the ones I have. And to add to the Colbert humor, he calls us "Nation" all the time. Just another reason why he is so great.
currently living in Canada with relatives in both canada (mostly), the UK, and Australia
btw this deserves a QFT
I dont think "Americans" should be considered a nationality. I might get flamed by carlos for saying this but...the only people that should be considered Americans are Native Americans. MO
and
nor should Canadians, unless talking about Native Americans
I'm confused... I thought your ethnicity is what race you are and your nationality is what nation you're from... Then again I guess you can't define a race really cuz when you do you claim a nation (like how i'm korean and white or whatever) ugh i guess i'll have to check this out.
anyway. i'm american- i mean im from america and i live here. and then im like 25% korean and then like 75% mixes of european im assuming:confused:
That you're confused about it is what helps support the point I was making earlier. Some people consider ethnicity and race the same thing, others don't. Some people think of a nation as a state (as in a country) but there is no such thing. A state has a government, population, territory, and sovereignty. But when a nation has all of these things, it is actually a nation-state.
Sorry, I keep going off on this but someone on this forum finds me meek and uninteresting. So I have to stop talking about it lest I bore them.
