After coming to the realization that 3 days ago I began my third year here, it dons upon me that such an accomplishment is not truly acknowledged around here. This thread is to discuss methods of changing that.
I do have a few ideas, well mostly the are just variations of the same idea.
First and foremost some sort of commemrative plaque should be awarded, this can either be an entirely original artwork, provided by one of our many skilled artists,
This plaque to commemerate [insert name here]'s [insert year/s] of dedication to this site.
or prehaps a slight modded of the scene from Diablo II in which there is a shot of Deckard Cain and you are given your new title.
and secondly, speaking of titles, prehaps for every year of service you could be given a new title.
1st Year: Sir or Dame
2nd Year: Baron or Baroness
3rd Year: Lord or Lady
or should we just go with the DIablo II titles themselves?
Classic
1st Year: Sir or Dame
2nd Year: Lord or Lady
3rd Year: Baron or Baroness (If those a re wrong it's because it's been far to long since I've played classic softcore)
1st Year: Lord or Lady
2nd Year: Count or Countess
3rd Year: King or Queen
I am somewhat hesitate to include a title for a fourth or fifth year due to the very nature of what that implies, and how long people tend to stick around here for.
Once we have decided on something like a title, the issue now becomes how best to display it.
If you view someone's public profile, you may notice the box Group Memberships. This seems like a good place to display this sort of thing.
But based on previous experience I do know how those groups work, and it gets confusing with people like me, who are fairly regular posters, but also hold a staff rank. The rights of both of us get shared when the shouldn't unless a group with a similar name is made for mods and admins who have achieved these levels of dedication.
Least thats what I recall from past mistakes where my playing around with the groups allows non mods to view the mod forums.
Well that's about all I have for now. What ideas do you guys have?

-Humankind cannot gain anything without first giving something in return. To obtain, something of equal value must be lost. That is alchemy's First Law of Equivalent Exchange. In those days, we really believed that to be the world's one, and only, truth.
Hmm, prehaps as your patron I shall have to commission you and your artist guild make the plaque to commerate these achievements.

Hmm, the user group thing might be a bad idea simply for showing how long one has been on the site. It might work now, but if we even need the user groups for what they've actually for, it'll create confusion and we'll be back to square one again.
Isn't it possible to add another title though? I could swear I've been to a vBulletin forum that had two ranks...
PlugY for Diablo II allows you to reset skills and stats, transfer items between characters in singleplayer, obtain all ladder runewords and do all Uberquests while offline. It is the only way to do all of the above. Please use it.
Supporting big shoulderpads and flashy armor since 2004.

I think the best way to implement this feature would have to be adding in another text area above the persons User Name, so for example.
Something of where the "Guardian" is, anyone else got a better idea?
lol, and then there's the complication of which I am a good example for: I got my account before a fair amount of people here, including the mods, but I only started posting a few months ago. I would feel kind of like a fraud if I were acknowledged as much as the mods are, but, then again, it would be pretty awesome lol. But its not like I never came to this site, I checked it like every day, waiting for news.
And also. If we have titles like those. They'll look better before the names as compared to above the names.

I can do duo ranks yes. But I would need an ok from Umaro first.
Last time I was playing around with them they came in under the username, not above it, I'd need to look into the coding/positioning, but it is doable, so long as UMaro is ok with it.
