Observing the forum from the point of my registration to the point when everyone was calling for new mods. Can't say it's gotten better, tho. It's not going to get better no matter what anyone does, in fact. We need D3. Until then, I'll let it be, it's pointless now.
I am seeing them all the time. Maybe you don't see them because I corrected them? Haha.
The call for mods was more about uselessness of threads. The spam bots did not really bother anyone that much, except the only people who could attack them was Elfen and he was kinda busy, so people just wanted more people to take care of them.
Well, it depends on what you mean by "fairly well". I saw it work fairly well on the Literature Forum, and on the Infinity forum, but apart from that, most English forums are just piles of flame, especially if devoted to popular games of the FPS genre. And the forum of LoL was unregulated and it was just a cesspool. Usually, tho, if the community cannot self-regulate itself at least to some extent, there is little moderators can do.
Last time I did that I got a bunch of hate mail and letters that someone outsmarted me. xD
I really wouldn't mind that, the thing is, I have to read ALL threads that have been posted in, and the thread quality has been greatly deteriorating, asking for more and more regulation, and I had enough of that bureaucracy. Self-regulate yourself as you please. I am going to merge posts, edit polls, delete spam, and help people who can't register, apart from that, you are on your own, people, and I guess the Official Hate Equinox Club can throw a party.
If that'll repair the forum, I'll only have more threads to flood in, so I win either way.

I've been here a little longer than you, by about 2-3 months. From the point of my registration to the point of new mods, we were doing very well. The call for mods had to do with the tons of threads having the same exact subject, the spam, and the advertisements. That was all we needed, we were doing fine before that. You have a different idea of moderation where the ideal forum is very controlled and extremely regulated. I'm not gonna turn this into a "my ideas are better than yours" but I will say that there is more truth in my ideas when it comes to this particular forum.
And it has gotten better, ever since you stopped messing with us and kept your eye on the spam and the other crap.
One last thing, the minute you start regulating what we say, or even banning someone for something they said, is when everything will blow up again. I'm not threatening, I'm only predicting.

I really haven't seen threads that needed mods for a while. Only the occaisional moved thread or merging.

Leads to less useless threads, actually, if you count the ones about you
