Overheating? Doesn't seem too hot...
Dust Clog-up? Just wiped all the blades lastnight...
Broken blade? No, I just cleaned all of them yesterday.
Broken gear? Gear as in? Everything looks fine really...
Jsut plain old? No, just got it about 8 months ago..
Gears as in, stuck, meshed, the gears twirling the fan
It might not be the fan at all however, probally a virus of some sort? Software Overloading? I had kind of the same problem, i had to do a file-sweep on my computer.

Come to think of it, sometimes the fan starts to buzz...
Don't mistaken a buzz for a fan when it could be a failing hard drive. I've heard some pretty crappy clicky hard drives that slowly died. A fan dying doesn't turn off the computer. A fan dying stops cooling the system, thus the computer may be turning off. I would monitor your temperatures. http://www.almico.com/sfdownload.php
With speed fan you can monitor temperatures. Keep your computer on for awhile, check the temperatures, etc. But there is still lots of advice that was given to you in the other thread. I would follow some of that.
What are your screensaver/power saving options set to?
My computer laptop was factory set to turn itself off after 5 minutes of idling.
Control Panel>Display>screensaver
Make the screen saver last longer, and dont for get to change the power setting which should be just under the screensaver settings.

hmmmm. though i have no knowledge about laptops(never owned one) when you bought it or recieved it did it have a insurance palicy. like if you buy it at target or best buy they might say something about a extra fee. so if something goes wrong you could take it back and trade it in or fix it. if you have something similir to that. i would see if they could fix it.
I'm not expert on laptops, but is the battery directly connected to the wall? my ex was always having problems with the power cord or something, get that checked maybe.
hard drive.
faulty wiring
incorrectly installed heatsink
etc...
My comp (laptop) is randomly shutting off again. I have a feeling it has to do with the fan. Any ideas on how to fix the fan?
Thankyou everyone!!
Dust Clog-up?
Broken blade?
Broken gear?
Jsut plain old?
This list can ever so much go on...
Edit: I would take it apart and dust everything, My sisters computer had the same problem and we ended up having to get her a new one.
