Seems this movie comes out in 2010. Bout the same time as the first Hobbit movie.
Yeah Motion Capture, ala Beowulf.
@ movies? Wonder if the first will be Wonderland and the second through the looking Glass. Or will they just break Wonderland into two movies, like the Hobbit.
I hope they don't do any of the crap they pulled with the original Disney feature film, and steal a bunch of stuff from Through the Looking Glass. That is just plain wrong.
This is the new Alice. Well what she looks like in real life. As it is motion capture she will be CGI.
Might be the first Disney movie I actually pay to go and see.

-Humankind cannot gain anything without first giving something in return. To obtain, something of equal value must be lost. That is alchemy's First Law of Equivalent Exchange. In those days, we really believed that to be the world's one, and only, truth.
I have mixed feelings about his movies. Some are good, some are bad.
His Nightmare before Christmas was awesome. His Planet of the Apes, not so much.
I figured with a Motion Capture movie they would have gone with Robert Zemekis. He is experienced in this field. But maybe he felt like he had done it already.

Wow really? Edward Scissorhands? Big Fish? Nightmare Before Christmas? Batman? Sweeney Todd? Beetlejuice? Sleepy Hollow? Is he really awful?
Beetlejuice was good. The rest of those movies, you're goddamn right he's awful.

They are saying that Johnny Depp is gonna be the Mad Hatter.:thumbsup:
Johnny Depp fetishist Tim Burton will be casting Johnny Depp in one of his movies? Shocking. That guy really knows how to mix things up and take risks.
Can we keep the Tim Burton bashing, no matter how justified, to a minimum or out of this thread please.
I want to discuss the movie, and what may or may not be in it. Not whether Tim Burton can't make a movie without Johnny Depp in it.
I wonder if they will make the cat more like how it is described in the book?
The cat is described more like this from American McGee's Alice;
Which is some what weird, as the accompanying pictures in the book have the cat looking much more like this;
Either way, I find it better than this one;

Wow. You think that Edward Scissorhands was bad?!?! Big Fish too?!?! Edward Scissorhands was one of the best films of our lifetime!! I'm sorry, but you have a terrible taste in movies. Let me ask, what is your favorite movie?
Johnny Depp as the Mad Hatter isn't supposed to be shocking. It's just supposed to be really cool. Let me guess, you think that Johnny is a bad actor too. Sheesh.
It seems to me that the beginning and the end of the movie will be live action, and everything through the looking glass will be in mocap.
I want to engage in some series Alice in Wonderland discussion. Guess I'll have to discuss things with myself, until Tweedledee to my Tweedledum, Atrumentis gets here. Or is he the Carpenter to my Walrus. Or am I the Carpenter to his Walrus? I never can remember.
I think i might actually be disappointed if Tweedledum and Tweedledee turn up in this movie, they are not in the Wonderland book. Stupid disney and their total disregard for the original story which they are copying so much so to the point where they come damn near close to brutalizing it. The little mermaid commits suicide geniuses!! And Pocahontas dies of disease. Where was that in the move huh disney!!!
Guess the felt those two were more interesting than the Duchess. Which seems somewhat silly, as the Cheshire Cat belongs to the Duchess.
But even with their inclusion of Tweedledum and Tweedledee they left out a huge part of the characters.
Tweeldedum and Tweedledee,
agreed to have a battle,
For Tweedledum said Tweedledee,
Had spoiled his nice new rattle.
Just then flew down a monstrous crow,
As black as a tar-barrel,
Which frightened both the heroes so,
They quite forgot their quarrel.

Wasn't there an announcement a year or two ago about a movie adaptation of American McGee's Alice?

“There’s no going back now,” he said during an interview in a Manhattan hotel where Blizzard was showcasing their newest games. “We’re very happy with how the art style is. The art team’s happy. The company’s happy. We really like this art style, and we’re not changing it.” - Blizzard. :thumbsup:
I'm very much looking forward to this. I believe hes going to be doing a darker, more serious telling, much like American McGees Alice, which is much better than the original telling.
Very few stories are as interesting, or as engaging as listening to a story you've heard many times, but with a twist on it. You have this feeling of the unknown, but also this feeling of comfort.
I have nothing against Burton. I enjoy a lot of his stuff. As a matter of fact, I'd love to get into contact with him about something. Either way, if anyone can put a dark twist on a bright childrens story, it's Burton... or... American Mcgee.
As for Depp, I think he's a great actor. He has some misses, but he really gets into his parts. Him and Burton have been best friends for decades, and work together not only because its generally quite profitable, but because they also have fun doing it. I don't blame them.
Like I said, looking forward to this and hopefully some other twisted kids' stories.

Yes there was and this is not it. American McGee's Alice has Sarah Michelle Gellar in the lead role.
