Greetings folks! Welcome to another LinkX™ brand thread! This time I wanna talk about Alignments. Not the alignment of a character of your's, but your's as a real life flesh and blood human. For those that don't know, there are many alignments, like:
Lawful Good (The best of the best, the lawful good character acts on the side of goodness, righteousness and order. The warrior who is beholden to a lord or a church, the priest dedicated to healing the wretched - anyone who cannot stand by while others suffer. They will chase evil to the end of the world.)
Neutral Good (Ultimately a giver, the neutral good character will do what he/she can to help, working within law or chaos, but ultimately he/she perfers his/her own council in the end.)
Chaotic Good (The hero of the downtrodden, the chaotic good character cares not for laws and order but only for doing good. If he/she must break the law to help others, they will do so without compunction. This character will steal to feed a poor family or stand up to their own master to defend a falsely accused servant.
Lawful Neutral (The hater of chaos, a lawful neutral character will stick to the letter of the law, whether it is their personal code of rules, their king's, or their religion's. This character finds chaos as abhorrent as evil and will not bend their personal guidelines even to help another if it will contribute to chaos.)
Neutral Neutral (aka True Neutral) (A middle-of-the-road character, a neutral character finds it difficult to fit into any other distinction. He/she does what seems to be a good idea, whether it flows with law or chaos, good or evil. Often a follower, he'll/she'll rarely go against the group.)
Chaotic Neutral (The true individual, the chaotic neutral character prizes their own freedom above all else. They do not want ties to either good or evil to influence them, preferring to make her own way as they see fit. )
Lawful Evil (A being who gains power through methodically destroying others is lawful evil. Power comes through order, but one can be orderly about slaughtering innocents. Tradition is important, but goodness is not.)
Neutral Evil (A neutral evil character serves only himself/herself. They follow no law but have no drive towards chaos. They kill or steal as they see fit to get what they want.)
Chaotic Evil (With the drive of pure hatred, the chaotic evil character will do whatever he/she can to attain his goals. He/she is bound by no laws, no master, and no compassion. While unlikelyto run down the street slaying innocents (chaotic evil does not mean stupid), this character would have no regrets)
I personally feel as though I am Chaotic Good, with a slight leaning towards Chaotic Neutral at times. I am curious as to what you all, the forum members, feel you lean towards.
(I took the descriptions from a website to help those who have never heard of allignments better decide where they would stand.)
I'm just saying, why should we be limited by that? What's the problem with expansion and creativity?
I chose Chaotic Neutral because it seemed to describe me the best in my own head, I guess. I try to remain as moderate and level-headed as possible, but sometimes shit's just gotta be done, you know?
I didn't say there weren't other ways. I said there are no more in this set. There really is no way to expand this set to fit more alignments. You could, in essence, come up with a new set of rules, but what you'd get is this all over again with different names or varying degrees, which hardly constitutes a unique set of alignment rules.
As for me, I'm a mix between Chaotic Neutral and Lawful Evil.
Aku Soku Zan. "Slay Evil Immidiately". And if one has to break a rule to do that, then so be it. But more so the helping people, even at the cost of breaking a rule or two.
But lately I've been feeling more Lawful Neutral.
Rollback Post to RevisionRollBack
-Humankind cannot gain anything without first giving something in return. To obtain, something of equal value must be lost. That is alchemy's First Law of Equivalent Exchange. In those days, we really believed that to be the world's one, and only, truth.
Why would you two choose Chaotic Neutral and Lawful Neutral respectively?
Just curious. : D
Lawful Neutral because I believe there are reasons we have laws and rules and believe that they need to be obeyed. People can't just do whatever they want to or nothing constructive would ever get done in a timely manner. I chose Neutral, though, because I wouldn't go completely out of my way to "chase down evil", since it will always exist along side its natural polar opposite, "good", and therefore would be a fruitless effort in the long run.

I'm thinking since he named the ones D&D created, he's using the ones from D&D.
Simple concept no?

Elfen, I wouldn't have pegged you as Chaotic Good. Probably just because of your avatar. Then again, I also shouldn't judge a book by its cover.

Oh, I thought this was RL. My bad. No idea in games, probably the same unless I'd get bored.
