If you don't much care for Texas, and believe it should secede, then I ask you to please join this Facebook group and send invatations to all your friends. Thank you.
Do Texans still talk about seceding? I don't care about Texas, but that doesn't mean I feel it should secede. At any rate, the U.S. government would never allow it. And at the risk of trolling a bit, no social networking site is going to have any significant impact on this issue. Social networking sites in general do little for politics, despite what many people believe.

I guess you're right, but I think that it might bring more attention to the issue. I don't see why the government won't let them secede. If the people of Texas want it, who are we to deny them that?
Well, what does this even mean, " This group is for people who believe that Texas is too out of touch with the rest of the United States of America...." ?
How is Texas too out of touch with the rest of the U.S.? That's like saying you can be out of touch with the U.S., but not too much. And define even being out of touch. The United States is one of the most diverse political entities in the world. So you can't just make a blanket statement like that without saying how they are out of touch. Cause I can easily argue in some ways how they are more American than any other state, as well as I can argue they are nothing like the rest of America. Ya know what I mean?
It's built into the constitution that a state can secede if they want to, but that would be idiotic.
Texas isn't going to secede, they're just right-wing nuts who think they're making a point. It's kind of like the little 8 year-old who threatens to run away from home because he got grounded from his Gamecube. He's not going to run away, he's just pissed. As a parent, what do you do in this situation? You let him run away. He'll be back an hour later crying because he realizes he did something stupid. If Texas wants to secede, that's fine. They'll come back crying soon enough.
None of this matters, however, as Texas won't secede. It's an idle threat proposed by immature political figures.

Comparing them to the rest of America, not "America." They are overly out of touch with the majority of America. It's kind of like how the Neo-Nazi party is too out of touch with the rest of America to have a say in our government.
I totally forgot about this post, it probably isn't finished, but I lost my train of thought.

I'm afraid I still don't understand.
Texas is merely another part of the United States of which there are all different kinds of people. And many states have much of their own distinctions and quirks about them. And I'm not denying there are many Texans who claim to want to leave have their state secede, but just how many of those are there? How many in elected government alone?
And so what is your cause exactly? To put pressure on Texas to secede? Because they are supposedly out of touch with the rest of United States? Wouldn't them seceding make them even more out of touch with the United States?
They can only secede if they still pay tax money and we just split it among the remaining states.
Anyway I seriously doubt it'd happen. Like 70% are against it, I think was the last poll I heard, and it'd be a bad move. We'd no longer have to trade with them if we didn't want.

So, now we can define who is "too out of touch" with America and limit democracy? This is wrong. They have every right to affect the government in any way they so choose, it's their freedom as residents and tax-payers in the government. What if we say gays are "too out of touch"? Or Muslims? Or Christians? Or Chinese immigrants? Can we say who should and should not be part of the US' government? Can we in good conscience dictate who of our own citizenry is and isn't allowed to have government influence? No, that's against what we're trying to accomplish.
Neonazism was a terrible analogy, as well. That's genocide and discrimination. Texas is a state.
Anyway, the Civil War was fought partly over the states' right to secede from the government. As far as I know, because the Union "won" the conflict, seceding from the US is not possible. Congress passed a law making secession illegal: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Secession.
Anyway, I'm not keen on this issue. Why does Texas want to secede or whatever?

It's not a hate group, so don't have those intentions.
What do we have to fear if we're not a union?
