WARNING: This is a one-hour long presentation. To facilitate discussion on this thread/topic I would like anyone who desires to participate to watch through the entire video/presentation.
I dug this up from another forum whose topic was ironically how God (God as the Christian deity) didn't create the universe. Now being a Deist I found this interesting and contrary to intial belief I found this video presentation of the lecture entertaining (there's humor in the presentation so it's not a total borefest).
Anyways the reason I posted this video and started this thread was that Lawrence Krauss's lecture really made me ponder on the multiple aspects of the universe. And I would like to share this with you (if you can last an hour watching/listening) and see what all of your opinions are on the topic of his lecture, about the nature of the universe and what it will be in far future.
I've always kind of thought that the universe would always expand, but I never thought of the idea that whole galaxies would zip off into infinity or that the movement of galaxies would actually accelerate rather than decelerate (as inertia would suggest).
It's always very fascinating. It's also kind of comforting to know that the universe won't just "end." I don't see how it could because certain laws of physics don't allow things to just disappear.

It is. Yeah it's a comfort knowing the universe won't just end like that, but it's a double-edged sword.
If what the presentation shows is confirmed true in the far far future, then this time in human history is the nearing the peak of scientific advancement and once we hit that peak then said advancement will deteriorate as the universe expands, nulling what evidence we have currently about it for future generations.
In other words, in the future, we are all fucked.
