i did rather enjoy the NPC interaction.....doing a quest one way or another....and they usually had something to say about it...adding Sarevok to your team towards the end...and most of your team flip out.....
and the romances added an unusual dimension to the game.....playing as evil or good...i still could never let Viconia burn at the stake

yeh, even though she is a Drow, i still cant let her burn. pity she didnt have more content. she doesnt even have a quest. all she does is explain the underdark in more detail. kinda sad really, i like her character.

yes, although its very limited in the unmodded game. all romance options are priest characters, wonder why that is?
-if you priest dies in the early stage of the game you would reload unless you want a long walk back to a temple
-if your romance option dies you reload
making the two one in the same i guess is just extra incentive for keeping them alive.
the Mod NPC romances are more varied, fighters, paladins, thieves and mages.

-Humankind cannot gain anything without first giving something in return. To obtain, something of equal value must be lost. That is alchemy's First Law of Equivalent Exchange. In those days, we really believed that to be the world's one, and only, truth.
plus her portrait got better (hotter) going from BGI to BGII she didnt get ruined by Bioware's love of braids and plaids
I had tried a few "add character" mods.....but back then i had a very limited computer.....and dial-up....so DL'ing them was quite the pain in the ass
you have 56k too. i just put up with it, let it dl over night.

well i had 56k...now i have cable...but back then i had the toilet end of 56k.....the connection would never have lasted for the course of the night.....i guess i should add i had AOL too....which made it even worse..
i started playing diablo 2 on that same computer....i actually had to stop playing online cause it would lag disgustingly....and it always seemed to lag just when i went swords a flying into battle

im still on 56k, its usually pretty good, right up until i fight a horde of Hell cows or Venom lords, then it lags like ive never seen before. but generally its pretty good and i can live with it, even with media player/MSN/AIM/ventrillo running at the same time as LOD.
its kinda nice BG really only has TCP/IP, it barely lags at all on 56k, well so long as someone with a fast connection hosts, or it takes forever to load te ingame cinematics and movies.

well i did eventually come back to diablo on that same computer, but after i upgraded my modem to something that connected at more than 20-30 k
but my favorite was doing baal runs.....colenzos group would drop....and it would lag for what seemed like forever....then when it stopped....everyone had left....and someone had killed baal too....i was just happy to still be alive.

I never tried BG or BG II over the internet for the same reasons as above....plus at the time i had no one to play with.

Ahh the balders gate series. I never really thought much about that game, and mutl-player wasn't that bad, but I never really liked it. It's too dull, and at most points, too easy. My barbarian type dude kicked the hell out of everyone with his crazy weapon.
I found medic kind of cheap. At lvl like 2 I just kept using this flame attack that did like 24dmg and I stole all my bros kills and he just got mad. So I had to stop or he would leave lol. Plus I could heal, so really it wasn't that fair.
But, If the first is better, then I might try it. I just wish I had better gaming friends or brothers. I have a good gaming friends, but his parents are strict. I mean like he is a total game-addict xD And he owns BG II and has played BG I.
He's a bit obsessed with Hitman and Splintercell though....

why not step up the difficulty? or try it with less characters?

several of us are trying (and failing thus far) to put together a multiplayer game, but we are short on players. and the amount of mods is alittle off putting but unfortunately its easier for everyone else to mod up that it is for me to have to keep unstalling reinstalling mods, yeh i still play the game.

Eh... difficulty. Good point. I don't know, that game was just still not very fun. But I should say, multi-player kicks the ass out of single, as in most games.
