Is it just me, or did Halo 2 suck compared to Halo? I don't really know why, but I just liked Halo way better than its sequel. So I'm skeptical about 3:(
I think the developers of Halo took to heart a lot of they feedback they got from fans regarding Halo 2. I actually see more, albeit subtle, similarities betwee Halo 1 and 3 than that of 2. One of the more noticeable ones was the resurrection of the Assault Rifle. I think I even saw a screen with the original pistol.
The SMGs are hard to score a kill with. Unless you're either wielding two, or a teammate is hitting your target on the other side. But I'd rather gun someone down with two magnums or two plasma rifles instead.
Plus, the SMGs have that kick to them that gradually makes you aim higher. Like a Spartan couldn't solidly handle a gun like that. The SMG could be just as powerful as the Assault Rifle though. It's just in Halo 2 the shields are stronger. So when we are playing the Assault Rifle in Halo 3, it will be nice to have back, but there's no guarantee it will operate as effeciently as it did in the first Halo.
Yeah, I've played against some crafy people where one guy will have the plasma pistol all charged and ready to go, while his buddy follows him with some SMG's. So obviously, they take your shield out in one hit, then quickly gun you down. And all I could do was tell them how ridiculous they looked running around paired together like that.
Thank god they are going back to the assault rifle. Those SMG's were worthless. At least they were when I used them
you just gotta know how to use them, for a time they were my favorite weapon, i was invincable with them, then i stopped using them cause i found out battle rifle was better. and one thing i dont like about halo3 the rocket launcher sucks, in the beta nobody picked up the rocket launer, it's better than h1 launcher but not as good as h2
How long ago did you play the beta? It's possible they've improved the rocket launcher since then. I like the rocket launcher. But I'm useless with it in multiplayer games.
Sniper rifles are fun to a point. But I hate playing against the people who've got it all figured out. And there's no room for laid-back folks like me to go play a game and have a good time. Cause these hardcore guys get their snipers, stake out the best hiding place, and you can't even run fron point A to point B without being sniped.
I really like the Battle Rifle. I used to not. I still can't kill people with it as fast as people kill me. I have a harder time getting those head shots. Other people killing me in like two hits with it though.
I'm also useless with the Brute Shot. I just leave it on the ground now.
the rocket launcher is slower than h2 and it don't lock on. but they have a new weapon that locks on, i can't remember the name. and i played the beta end of may begining of june
Ah, I see now. Yeah that's pretty stupid. I even considered getting the limited edition Halo 3, but then I figured whatever featurettes are shown on it would eventually be available on YouTube or something.
Don't worry, if you really want to see the extras I'm getting the limited edition version.
As for people who're good at sniping, I'm good at taking out snipers. Mostly because I make it a point to spoil their fun, but also because I'm a decent shot myself. You just have to figure out where they're at, and sneak around a lot. There's nothing more gratifying than splattering a sniper while you're pilotting a banshee, hehehee.

This is so true. Hardcore snipers get so preoccupied with it that they can be easy to sneak up on. You just have to be patient and crouch all the way the their location. It's so great when they're just standing there looking for people to snipe and you come up behind them and beat the sht out of them. And you're like, "Take that you goddamn pretentious sniper!" There's no honor in what they do. I like sniping as well. But I also believe in an unwritten code about it and how it shouldn't be relied on exclusively. It's just cowardly. How much is exclusively? I guess it's in ratio to how much you also get close and gritty with other players in point blank shootouts.
The snipers who do impress me though are the ones who can take someone out in just two shots with either the Battle Rifle or Carbine. That takes a lot of skill. And those who wield those guns are also forced to get into the fight as much as anyone else.
Good luck with college.

It's the decisions you make when you have no time to make them that define who you are.
