Sorry if there is already a thread about this. To be brutally honest, I'm pissed and can't be fucked to check.
Is anyone else really excited about this game? I'm hoping that it will get me away from WOW, and it really looks like it could. So many ace features that I've heard about, I just hope it's not a game that promises to deliver so much but fails to implement it in a fun way. I really like how you will be able to completely customise yourr armour, as in WOW if you have some sick armour then it will look exactly the same as someone else who has the same sick armour (disregarding the minor aesthetic differences between how the armour looks across different races). I love the fact that I can have some sick armour but still look different to someone else in the same armour due to dying it and putting the skulls of my fucking enemies on it and shit.
I also like the fact that you can randomly kill a load of mobs and then if you get a quest that says "kill these mother fuckers that you just killed", it will remember the fools that you just killed and count it towards your quest. So many times in WOW i've killed a load of fools only to have a quest to kill said fools 10 minutes later.
I'm thinking either Chaos or Greenskins when I do start playing, though my main worry in this game will be balance as with WOW, most people played Alliance even though Horde can't really be considered evil. Chaos, Greenskins and Dark Elves are evil, no two ways about it, those guys are fucked up and don't really have any nobility, so if most people played Alliance in WOW even though Horde weren't actually the bad guys, the balance could be worse in Warhammer, and seeing as Warhammer looks like it will be heavily reliant on how your faction is doing as a whole, it could really screw things up for the evil ones amongst us.
Despite these slight worries, I can't remember ever being this excited about an announced game (obviously Diablo 3 will eclipse all concept of excitement when it's announced) so I really hope that they pull it off as potentially it could completely eclipse WOW, which can only be a good thing.
Apologies for my foul and disgusting fucking language, like I said I'm pretty slaughtered, but this post does contain some good points, so don't delete it you beautiful mods, you.
U-huh. You choose among predefined races and classes which cannot stray nowhere. You spend hours doing stupid quests and killing tons upon tons of respawning mobs so that you can level up and get money, then you spend those level ups to forge out some top build that there is, and you spend money on the top armor there is, and once you are top level you go into PvP zones and/or assemble to kill some big fat monster for even better armor. Been there before.
Oh, and how is it different? Orcs are called greenskins? Graphics are better? Different PvP rules and that sort of rubbish? How is it different from the rest, exactly?
Equinox, do your homework on a game before you relate it to being the same thing as another video game. Warhammer has a lot of different shit.. wow did not set any mediums for the MMO genre.. I'm willing to give that game a shot when it's released. Having some good open world pvp will do the mmo community some justice, specially since you can level via pve or pvp.. makes the game even better.
Oh and, I'm pretty darn sure the warhammer universe has been around a lot longer than anything warcraft related, so what if it's sprinkled with some of the same races, maybe wow borrowed from other lores, can't through that possibility out of the window.
First of all Equinox. I probably know more about Warhammer then you do, seeing as I watch every video that Warhammer releases each month about new stuff.
Their system is a lot different. I mean, you can do quests and stuff, but it's mainly centered towards world PvP, or "RvR", and capturing places in the game, trying to get the opposing faction in the realm down to one zone.
Their idea is very interesting.
I mean, gameplay may be so-called "WoW clone", but not objectives at all.
Whether you quest or RvR, it's up to you. They gave both options. Something new and something of old.
Think of their RvR as this. Team Fortress 2 control point gamemode, except way bigger areas and more control points.
I said chaos. You pick a char, you follow set builds, you kill tons upon tons of mobs to level up and to get good gear and then when you get to top level you PvP. HOW is Warhammer different HERE?
I don't care about the aspects of the game I am never going to see. I care about how the game starts and for how long will I be stuck killing mobs. Until I see a MMO that doesn't have that crap I will call all MMO's the same.
For me all MMORPG's so far have been exactly the same. The real original MMO was Eve, and possibly UO and PS. The rest is just copy cats. Wow, Lineage, Everquest, etc.
I don't give a damn about storyline when my storyline is to kill 300 monsters a day with auto-attack.

Apart from the unexpected bad grammar, the exact same could be said about Diablo. Apart from the auto-attack thing, I mean. There is skill needed in MMOs. I'm not saying WoW is different from Warhammer, don't think I'm saying that, I'm just saying your definition of a good game is that it's original. Satrcraft isn't original in any possible sense of the word, yet you seem to like that game.

I love when Equinox rants to one of you guys, you just get scared and go
"Oh, I was kidding, ever heard of sarcasm?"
actually alot of you do that.
and its really lame.
Hmm, here was me thinking nobody really backs down. I've yet to see an argument with Equinox end by anything other than mutual agreement or outside interferance, no matter who it is arguing with her.
Starcraft may not be original, but there are two things for me:
FEELS different playing a game (a good different feeling though)
the game is unique
If either of those cross my path I will most likely like the game. And I do like Starcraft a bit. It's just a different feeling playing that game, which makes it kinda feel original.
Also, MMOs hardly need skill at all. Just for the record. WoW is tooooo easy. Guild Wars is. And I don't expect Warhammer to be any different.

"Cards and flowers on your window, your friends all plead for you to stay,
sometimes beginnings aren't so simple, sometimes goodbye's the only way."
I never used a guide and WoW was brainless for me. It took nothing to level up. It was kinda fun but seriously easy. You don't need to plan much, and planning in WoW seriously doesn't take skill, unless you're raiding. Which still doesn't take long to plan.
And you need to think in all games at some point or another O.o but it doesn't make the game hard or that you need much skill. And really there is no thinking.
"Click" "1" "3" "Dead" - WoW - for some parts of the game, well most, this is NOT an exageration of what you have to do
.........................
I'm not exactly saying (well I did say this, but I didn't mean it) that WoW requires NO skill, but verrrrry little.

This coming from a Starcraft player.
What do you do in any game? You do an action and then usually repeat that action until games end. On Starcraft it's no different. You pick a race, you build until you can get the strategy you want to use and then you attack.

Chills just went down my spine. I think hell just froze over.
It's the decisions you make when you have no time to make them that define who you are.
It's called sarcasm.

I'm sorry, can't that be said for any video game?
