Yea, I listened to the commentaries too. The part of the game that had me kinda confused was when you go to retrieve the magic goop and the antlion guard attacks you. I thought I had to kill it, but then I remembered what the vortigaunt said (something about not killing the antlion gaurd until you get the goop) and just ran like a mofo. I'd like to see harder puzzles in the next installment though.
That mission can be kind of confusing. I had subtitles turned on throughout the game though so I could get a clearer understanding of everything that was being said to me. I tend to lose focus without subtitles.

BTW, did you launch the garden gnome into space yet?
And we just have to run from that guardian. We have to hide in those tunnel like things with those glow antlions which give us health. [temporarily]

I think it's even cooler if you get a Combine in there. One thing that really disappointed me about some of the combat in Half Life 2 is the way the Combine act and sound exactly the same. Each time you kill them, they make that exact same screaming sound, and I hate how you can shoot them, in the face, and they'll get knocked back for a second then stand there and shoot you back. Sometimes they'll take cover, but how neat would it be if you shot one in the leg it started limping or if you shot its throat it would grab at its own throat as it slumped forward, lurched a bit, then died. Just little details is all, but would've made the game more special and the combat less tiresome. Cause every type of monster or guy dies the exact same way each time (with the exception of when you kill them with the energy ball). Even grenades and rockets don't really blow enemies into pieces. They just get tossed around like rag dolls.
Hmm the secondary pulse blast lifts the enemy into air and pwoosh! Its gone. lol. Its so cool.

I remember playing Max Payne and when he was hurt he started limping. It made the game more realistic.
I'm grateful to valve for making the zombies split horizontally when hit with a blade. Other wise it would be like it pierces through them and they are one piece.
BTW, i always wonder what kind of substance those medkits hold which can heal each and every type of wound.

I simply love the Half-Life series, I've played Half-life 1, HL: Opposing Force, HL: Blue Shift, Half-Life 2, HL2: Episode 1, HL: Episode 2, and Lost Coast. And a bunch of mods for it. But I gotta say Episode 2 was among the best, it had a great storyline and had me at the edge of my seat when Eli was talking about Gman, and it had me had me holding back tears when he died(yeah, seriously). Overall one of the greatest series out there, next to Diablo and Elder Scrolls.
Oh, you dont know about the gnome? ^-^ at the beggining when you and alyx get to the place where you talk to Eli over a screen, theres a bunk bed type thing and underneath it is the gnome. you have to carry the gnome with you all the way to the end of the game where you launch the rocket. when you first see the nose cone of the rocket you will notice a lil opening at the top with stairs going up, put the gnome in there and continue until the end where he gets launched into space Its really hard to do, you have to carry the gnome either on you're hood or in the rear window of the jolopy while you are driving.
Enigma, i've played the same and i agree that EP 2 is the best.

I'm kind of pissed off. I played all the way through Episode 1 firing what I was certain to be just one bullet, and at the end of it, I never got the achievement. I don't think I can ever play that through again either.

How can you not fire? That's just impossible for me, whenever I see the fast zombies I freak out and spam fire, I unload every kind of pain possible.

The one free bullet you get is to shoot off a padlock earlier in the game. For the rest of the game, you'd be surprised how easy it is to get through with without shooting. Of course, the achievement allows you to use the grav gun, crowbar, grenades, and rockets as well. You do play a bit more carefully, but it forces you to come up with more strategies which is fun. I still can't figure out though why I didn't get the achievement. I must've accidentally done something I wasn't supposed to. I was pretty pissed but I guess it's okay cause I managed a few other achievements this time through like the Zombieque, Pacifist, and the Escort ones.
Zaa?
