There are plenty of guilds that you can join in East without forcing a slowly decaying guild in west to stretch its already weakened manpower to accomadate you and thus quicken its destruction.
From my experience with StarCraft clans, or guilds, most of these organizations are worthless in one form or another.
I think that depends on who is in them. How they are advertised. How they recruit. I'm not big into public guilds. It is nice to share similar insignia's/names/tags. In starcraft just having a similar tag draws quite a bit of attention. People want to pwn you. People want to "defeat" the clan. It's like a big ego thing. I personally like drawing that attention since I normally only surround myself with very expert fastest players. Yes, you can be an expert fastest player, DON'T JUDGE.
And why did you write all that out, SpanishBard...
What kind of attention it draws? We NCW all had the same tag, no one cared, and we played between ourselves and sometimes in pub. If some idiot in pub says he owned someone, I can just pity his miserable mentality for a second there. I am not into big clan animosity or ego shit or any other rubbish that teenagers and other groups concern themselves with. For me a clan is a collection of members who play each other and improve each other, so that people don't have to go into the stupid pub so often where I don't even imagine anyone playing Hwangsangbul (yes, that's a map).
What concerns me is three problems in most clans: assholish (unintelligent) members, lack of devotion to the game, and inactivity. Most clans looks like a pack of trailer trash idiots who happen to spend a lot of time on StarCraft.
I'm trying this new thing where I just press Enter. It sort of just rolled off my mind when I read your post. Well lets set aside for a second that your thought process is different from the rest of the population. It's a competetive game. It's a game you strive to be better than someone else. I don't think gloating about being better than someone means they have a miserable mentality. Why should you judge someone elses entertainment because it doesn't align with yours? If people get satisfaction from beating clan members, or beating members in general. You shouldn't ignorantly title them as stupid. People try and define the game more than it actually is. It's about personal satisfaction. It's about personal enjoyment. IT's A GAME.
Why can't non-guild members play eachother and improve eachother? Why do you need a guild for that? You don't. Clans are about establishing a community of a competitive nature. You'd be blind to not understand it. My issues with clans are, they always seem to be about quantity, not quality. That's why making more of a private clan is something I'm ok with. Just picking 5 guys. Get some form of recognition so people know, oh, that one clan is awesome.
What is with all these silly stereotypes? Trailer trash idiots who spend alot of time on StarCraft. Assholish(unintelligent), miserable mentality if gloating about pwning someone. These aren't even accurate stereotypes. They're just emotional ones.

That's not what I meant, your post was addressed to me but had little to do to agree or override my point. It was more of a side comment. Nothing wrong with that, but when people quote me without saying anything that relates to what I said, it baffles me.

Well, you don't. I do. I think anyone who extensively gloats, boasts, likes to abuse, likes to humiliate, hurt, has a skewed psychology. Meet those people in real life they are exactly the same. And I met plenty. If you have fun with these guys, maybe it's because none of them ever directly bothered you outside of the internets...

Because they live in the same world I do. And I want my world clean. Their entertainment is their life, their life is my life.

I get satisfaction from beating people... please read what I said. I don't mind competition. I mind humiliation and disrespect toward those who have a life (play SC less, and, thus, are not as good at it).

You can say the same about life. It's all just a game of being happy in some way. Their life is a reflection of their life, whether you want it, or not. And I don't imagine their reflection being backwards. They are assholes towards the people on the internet, they are assholes towards them in real life.

Less organization, ties, etc. People who are in a guild usually develop a stronger mentality to stay together. Propaganda, nothing else... Besides, if 5 people keep playing together they can as well develop a clan.

Competition and humiliation are very different things.

What can I say, I enter the channel of a clan on East, and I get some guy talking to me in this manner, like "lookka my nigga", "whatcha doonnna". I didn't even understand what he was saying there. Am I supposed to nod at that language, smile, and say "keep talking like that, I got no idea what you're saying, but at least your cool"?
If a person likes to make fun of another they are an asshole... my definition of it. I don't accept abusers in any way or form. Maybe you think they are all right, I don't.
SICK, which is the guild most member son this site are part of, has of my understanding limited itself to USWest as of now becasue of a lack of members and the uselessnes of spreading people out. If you wish to play with people on East, there are a few here, but probably not enough to create an entire guild. I don't think you'll have much luck in your venture.
PlugY for Diablo II allows you to reset skills and stats, transfer items between characters in singleplayer, obtain all ladder runewords and do all Uberquests while offline. It is the only way to do all of the above. Please use it.
Supporting big shoulderpads and flashy armor since 2004.

chaos, destruction, disorder........... my work here is done.
I agree with Equinox. I've played SC and Diablo for the longest time and there are assholes on both. I was playing Diablo LoD earlier and some guy comes into a forge rush game and immediately insults me just because I have a lower character. Now that forces me to label that guy as an asshole. I also aggre with Equinox on the language people use as well. I play an online game to free myself from the world of "yo nigga wat wat!" people. I HATE THEM!!

Since the beginning... I have existed
Peace is a lie. There is only Passion.
Through passion, I gain strength.
Through strength, I gain power.
Through power, I gain victory.
Through victory my chains are broken.

Yep, imagine having to deal with that everyday of your life. The East Coast is wonderful, isnt' it? God I hate city slang and drawl.
If you wish to play with people on East, there are a few here
Actually, if you look at any of the "What Realm Do you Play?" polls, US West and US East is dead even.
I voted yes, but I don't have my new Battle Chest yet( I should have it in the mail by Wednesday). My old one was destroyed and I'm going to create a new account with this one. If you want to run some new chars together I'd be down. The more friends the merrier. I'll update with my account name A.S.A.P.

You should just start a normal guild.

You have to admit that he's good.
what do you mean?
"Cards and flowers on your window, your friends all plead for you to stay,
sometimes beginnings aren't so simple, sometimes goodbye's the only way."
Go check Clan Recruitment. Lots of clans there.
