Just thought I'd throw up another post about Darkspore.
I had the bad luck of first being exposed to this game vie a friend talking about it, and he put it in a very bad light. It created for me a bad image of the game with out ever having actualy treid it.
Fortunatly, I saw steam had a demo. I had a free night so I gave it a shot to see what it was like.
An hour later I got the full version. I'm up to level 30ish now and I can't belive how amazing it is. Its not really about the actual gameplay. The gameplay is very simplar to just about everything else out there (with the excpetions of having 3 heroes to swap in and out). The thing that is so awesome and addictive is the "Chain" system, Rewards for successfully completing "chains". Basically depending on how many missions you complete in succession, and how well you performed in each mission, you will get better rewards.
Equiping your heroes is a blast too with the editor. Expirimenting with new heroes is a ton of fun too and what seems to happen alot (so far) is I may have written off a hero, or not really ever tried it properly, only to find a Super Purified (think epic) weapon for that hero (each weapon is specific for one of the heroes) and then they become AWESOME.
Any way, long story short: I highly recomend Darkspore if you (like me) have some how avoided it this long. For only $30, its certainly worth it. I have found my way to past the time till D3 hits as I can certainly see myself playing for 4, 5 months or even longer.
