Just read an article (gamespot) basically just saying that Dota 2 will be released much sooner than planned.
"Valve originally intended to keep the game in beta testing for a year or longer, until it had added enough new features and heroes to the game that it was on par with the original Defense of the Ancients. However, after careful consideration of gamer feedback, Valve "decided [the] original plan was dumb."
The thing I find most interesting is the time at which the Gamespot article was written: Sep 23, 2011 8:42 am PT (I did a quick search but couldn't find the original time of announcement). Assuming it takes about an hour to write an article like that AND it took some time after the original announcement to have written it, lets say the announcement was made at 7:00 am.
Blizzard on the other hand announced that D3 is going to be pushed back at: Sep 23, 2011 5:30 AM PDT.
(I don't really know how much of a difference Pacific Time & Pacific Daylight Time is, don't use that stuff here).
Since neither original announcements had a timestamps with the article (perhaps I didn't see it!) I'm going to go on my assumptions. There is obviously a time difference between the original announcements times: Blizz - Sep 23, 2011 5:30 AM PDT
Valve - Sep 23, 2011 8:42 am PT
Sooooo, did Valve "suddenly" made the announcement because they "decided [the] original plan was dumb."? Or did they grab the opportunity to release Dota 2 in the time gap D3 was "supposed to be release" (un-officially at end of 2011 of course)?
So what do you think? It might seems a bit far fetched but what the hell!
D3 pushed back..weird (sarcasm). By the time D3 comes out many people will lose interest of it because in May Blizzard announced that It'll be release this year. Would be great if Blizzard start to wave out some keys to fan-sites and bnet accounts starting Monday, but doubt it. Funny how Dominion(beta) is out and by the way the game style is, may be the moba of the year. As for Dota 2, let's see how that goes when Dominions is still around. FYI Dominion(beta) can hold millions compare to D3 F/F and media which is not close to millions.

Blizz didn't say that D3 will be release this year...they said they are "aiming" to release it by the end of this year, but if there are any major bugs in the beta or something that's not working out (DH recourse system), it will be delayed.
The only 2 games right now that can take advantage (and probly will) is PoE and Torchlight 2
just farfetched and a coincidence
So what you're saying is that people only play one genre...ever? The companies know that Blizz aimed D3 for a Q4 2011 release. So who wouldn't want to grab the opportunity to release a game in the same period that a massive amount of people was expecting D3 to be released when they announced the delay. SWOTOR also announced just days after blizz's announcement that the release date is going to be Des 20. Obviously are companies gonna take the opportunity to release their games at the end of the year when no other big titles are going to be released...
really farfetched2 complete dif games, in 2 complete dif genres. ARPG and MOBA's arent in the same basket. The only 2 games right now that can take advantage (and probly will) is PoE and Torchlight 2just farfetched and a coincidence
They may not be in the same basket but Moba's are still about the number of people you can get on.
