*BEFORE YOU READ KEEP IN MIND THESE ARE 100% MY OPINIONS AND NOTHING IS FACT BESIDES WHAT DETAILS HAVE BEEN RELEASED THUS FAR AND HAVE BEEN WOVEN THEIR WAY INTO MY RANT*
As many of you know Halo 4 is slated for a Holiday 2012 release to compete with Black Cocks 2. We all know the differences and similarities between the two but Halo 4 and the developers behind it are pushing the boundaries a little too much I think.
Then just this past week Gameinformer released their latest issue detailing some key points in Halo 4. First off two internet domain names were registered. Haloinfinity.net and Haloinfinitymultiplayer.com. Some speculation was given but it was revealed that "infinity" is the multiplayer portion to Halo 4, from now on multiplayer in Halo 4 will be referred to as Infinity.
Now with that out of the way, we've seen some pretty significant design changes come to light from this article. One is No more set weapon drops. That sniper tower you love, might not spawn the sniper the next time you go for a refill on your ammo. They still do drop, but it is now a random drop pod that comes down and drops a random power weapon, for those who don't know the power weapons they are Rockets, swords, snipers, brute shots, shottys, etc. This isn't sitting well with many folks simply because it doesn't provide the rigid structure Halo players are used to. They used to time sniper or rocket drops and pick them up accordingly to make sure they maintained control of the most vital portions of a map. This in turn ensured Defeat of the opponent. While I like the change I have to agree here that this is seriously a hurting point. Halo was all about map control and skill, If you don't know where the power weapons are exactly it hurts your team, because if the other team catches one you can potentially be overpowered and lose a match. Although a pretty "minor change" it bears a lot due to the fact this is a core component of how Halo has been played even through Reach.
Thirdly, Loadouts are BACK! Probably the number one thing everyone hated from reach was LOADOUTS. It was bungies attempt to retain Halo as the MP king but it failed miserably with overpowered abilities and ones that just plain annoyed the shit out of you. You get one primary weapon and one secondary weapon and one armor ability, and sprint is now standard on everyone.
While I love the introduction of sprint as a permanent ability, it just makes the game slightly faster paced, I do not appreciate the return of dumb armor abilities. They were pointless and overpowered in reach and 343 better make sure they balance the hell out of them. Primary and secondary weapons should be limited to BR, AR, Carbine, Plasma Rifle, Magnum, and Plasma pistol, but it has not been confirmed what guns exactly will be "primary" or "secondary". I think this is a really poor decision. Load-outs and Abilities just aren't Halo. They just kill the core of what Halo was. Halo was a game where you all came into the match with the same guns and had the exact same chances of getting the power weapons and power-ups throughout the course of a game. It was skill based. If you had the skill you got the guns plain and simple. If you picked up a rocket you could control map points, same with a sniper or shotty, if you know how to use them effectively. If you missed those you'd have to work as a team and use SKILL to actually take back the map. With load-outs it's basically saying oh we'll here just have the gun, it removes the skill. Anyone can just take a rocket and blow you away. Not everyone can successfully take back a map point while they're being fired on by rockets and snipers. I really feel this is going to hurt the Infinity experience.
Fourth SP-artan OPS, SP-ec OPS. Come one really? that cheesy ass name is such a rip-off of CoD it just screams please give us your ideas cod. It sounds like a good idea though I am not against it. You play as spartans and do missions that are their own campaign. They'll be updating the spartan ops too so that you can have new content probably on a weekly basis. Something long term till next halo.
Five. Five is an Armor ability but it deserved its point on its own. X-RAY VISION. Now I don't really need to state why this is a terrible thing in any circumstance. I mean it's just plain out cheap. I can now successfully camp a corner and know when the enemy is on his way making, surprise sticks or sword lunges just 100% easier. If it is a way to "combat camping" as most games attempt to do these days It's a super poor excuse and will FAIL miserably. Sure it lets you see the camper but if he can see you too and you hesitate he'd know you see him and run. It's just not a fair thing to have in the game. And for those who don't use it, it just hurts you. Someone will use it in the game and it just gives them a huge edge. They can make callouts for friends without needing to see the guy. I'm not a fan of this at all.
Overall I'm a little disappointed but I'm reserving a Final word until the game releases and I've played at least a game. I'm hoping they fix somethings and balance it as much as possible. But I don't know if balancing alone can fix some of these problems.

I think it's gonna be awesome and I'm really excited for it. Halo is probably m favorite console franchise game. If not that, then definitely my favorite shooter ever.

Oh I'm excited for it, And It definitely is my favorite game franchise ever. More so than diablo, but I'm afraid they're moving a little far away from what halo was and trying to mainstream it even more. I love Halo, all of them with their faults but I just can't seem to get past the fact that they're repeating bad choices bungie made last game. My opinion at least. I hope when I open my Legendary edition i'm truly surprised and it rocks my socks off.

Uuughhh really? Reach really did blow. I didn't buy that one. I played it a lot with a friend so I never felt the need to actually get it.
The armor abilities sucked so bad...

Am I the only one who liked the armor abilities (well, except how sprint was an "ability," it should be standard)? Sure, some of them were overpowered, but so are some weapons. And sure, the x-ray vision does sound odd, but I doubt it will help camping more than anti-camping, just because campings flaw is rarely that you can't seem someone coming (especially since we all have a motion detector).
And finally, I kind of like the random drop ideas (or, at least I won't get upset until I try it). I like it because now everyone has an even chance that any given uppick well have a power weapon, and it's not just a guarantee that whoever memorized not just the map, but the muliittude of weapon layouts that will get it. It also means that to be dominant, you have to be better at more then one or two weapons - hopefully this means you won't have a team of sniper camping on the sniper spawns and being untouchable.

I hate armor abilities. It was Halo's foray into "perks" and it failed terribly; so bad they had to do something about the shield one. The invis is w.e it's been in em all. Overshield I don't mind either but as drops not as anytime i feel like it let's get a fucking overshield. It's cheap. It should be a one time use type of thing not whenever I have enough energy to use it. The jetpack was super annoying it literally just said here's height advantage no matter where you are, and the bubble shield is probably the only one i don't care about.
The random drops I'm sort of on the edge on I mean I see why they've done it but halo's always been about map control. That literally throws the game out of the window and re-invents it to the point of not being halo in the sense that it now has a completely different playstyle. Halo was always slow- moderate paced action with map control being the priority. Now they said no more map control, move to find the weapon you want. It's like they're forcing the game to be more run and gun like CoD is.
And X-ray vision kills this games MP i think. I mean let's be honest here seeing through walls?? I mean sure the motion detector gave you an idea of the direction but not a pinpoint location on the enemy. I mean how much can you get away with here? I love Halo but X-ray vision is a little over the top considering the game is all about knowing where your enemy is. This just takes it to a whole other level You won't be able to preform a surprise attack on the enemy you won't be able to run around back and flank them. It's cons clearly outweigh the pro's here.

First off we were shown a tiny teaser last year. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WHWw5Mlb8Jk

I can't even respond to this, I'm laughing to much.
