Ok, so I stopped playing D3 pretty soon after release, and now I'm playing again. I see a lot has changed - most for the good too, so I'm really enjoying playing again. I leveled my monk to 60 now, but I'm really confused as to what to do first.
I've watched some video's like this one:
just to get tips on gear, but as I've not played that much yet I'm only at ~650k gold. In general, I know my general way around the class, running the CC build and so far plowing my way through Inferno pretty steadily. I'm about half way through Act 2 and not had any trouble yet. But I'm sure I'll hit a wall somewhere towards / in Act 3 and I'm not really sure how I should work from here.
- There's crafting, should I invest in that as a fresh 60?
- Or should I be focussing on Paragon lvling first? And should I level that to 100 before anything else or should I stop at some point...?
- Should I get some of the (less perfect) recommended gear using my measly 650k or grow it to a larger sum first?
- What can I do to make some more gold? Just plow along with Nephalem or is there a sure way to earn some easy cash?
Basically I'm looking for some direction. If anyone has some gear tips (like cheap kit that I should start with instead of those 300million+ items that I can't dream to afford) that would be awesome too. My gear is here: http://eu.battle.net...245/hero/447447
Many of your questions are personal preference, so there is no definite yes or no answer.
No easy way to earn money as you know, but there are many ways in finding gold in D3.
My advice is to add some CC to your helm and gloves, and upgrade the gems of the weapons to boost your DPS to around 40k.
By that time, you can breeze through MP1 and earn more gold and loots more rapidly, and upgrade your gear piece by piece when you have accumulated a few million each time. It takes time and wit to deveop a character, the key is to enjoy the process.

IMO leave the gloves alone for now, they're not good by any means but they're not the worst of what he has. Helm, neck, and rings could all use some CC, dex, and vit. Don't bother with gems at all right now because even though you'll keep them forever, you can get much much bigger gains by improving your gear first. After you have a decent CC of 30-40%, buy some weapons that have >80 CHD instead of sockets because they are cheaper and will give you better stats until you can afford throwing a few million into the gems. Also get more dex/vit/resist on your chest and belt after the other upgrades.
Thanks for all the tips guys, definitely something I can work with :-)
I realise it's not going to be easy or quick, but since it's such a long road, better start off in the right direction or it's a long way to backtrack ;-)
maka - I wouldn't even know what that is
