At this year's Blizzcon, Blizzard will be doing their best at creating a thriving interactive community. Part of doing this is a new feature they will be hosting, a place where the community can gather to talk about specific ideas of their games. For any of you who are planning on going, this new "chat room" may be something you want to fit into your Blizzcon schedule.
Official Blizzard Quote:
Our primary motivator when hosting each BlizzCon is to provide an epic atmosphere for members of the community to meet up and share their common passion for Blizzard games. In keeping with that tradition, at this year's BlizzCon we'll be facilitating the first-ever BlizzChat: Community Live! Attendees will be given a venue to discuss a number of focused topics pertaining to the Diablo, StarCraft, and Warcraft universes and gameplay. If you're coming to BlizzCon at the Anaheim Convention Center this October 22 and 23, be sure to check out the schedule below. Don't miss the opportunity to share your thoughts on a wide array of subjects with fellow gaming enthusiasts.
So, how does this news help us find out that they will be talking about the new PvP system for Diablo III at Blizzcon? As mentioned, these rooms will have a schedule of what will be talked about. According to the Friday schedule:
Official Blizzard Quote:
Diablo III: PvP - 5 p.m. to 5:50 p.m.
Dueling has always been a big part of Diablo II and remains a huge factor in the game's logevity. However, there is obviously some major problems with the system. While they have not released any information on PvP in Diablo III yet, they have said it is something they want to improve from the older game. With a set time just to discuss PvP in this live chat, it is safe to assume that they will be giving us some information to talk about.
For more information on the new chat rooms and a full list of the schedules of topics, see here.

Yes PvP has always been one of the funnest aspects of Diablo 2. I hope they fix it because the PvP in that game was extremely unbalanced and not fair to some character classes.
I think PvP, along with achievements as has been said, could be a very good motivator to get to 60 and unlock some sweet PvP stuff. Like its something thats different every time just because your playing different people, so it would be a very good motivator to get every last reward and piece of gear so you can dominate other people, and if they make levels matter, so a level 50 can't really kill a level 60, and possibly more PvP options (if they have some kind of variety in the way you can do PvP as opposed to only dueling), would be a very good motivator to get to 60 and would also supply a good end game that doesn't get repetitive.

good news for the PvPers! i can't really do anything about it, but it will keep people busy and leveling more characters! i hope it wont be hostility based, like in the previous games, though.
Like i said before, i kind of liked the RuneScape duel system where you challenge someone to duel, put up stakes and winner takes all. I think there should be a specific server for dueling/pvping which could contain lots more players (dozens?).
i hope it wont be hostility based, like in the previous games, though.
Why not? I think that the hostility based PvP was fine.
for PvE hardcore players like myself it's amazingly awful to lose a character because someone thought it would be fun to attack me while i'm killing monsters. an option to make hostilities availiable on game creation could work.
The topic title is kind of misleading. I read the title and my first reaction was something along the lines of, "wtf, Blizzcon already started?". Even though most Blizzard fans know that Blizzcon starts in 2 days, I think the title should be rephrased to something like:
"Diablo III's PvP System to be Revealed at Blizzcon"
Anyways, I'm pretty glad that the Diablo team is actually putting substantial effort into making the PvP system work, and not just have PvP be tacked on to the final product. People love their co-op just as much as they love their PvP.

Yeah, I was so confused when I first read the topics name haha. Oh well, hopefully on the 22nd there will be a topic with the same name
This may be a little off topic, but does anyone know if they are going to do streams for the tournament matches in Blizzcon for free like they did in the previous ones? If I try to get that information from the official site all I get is that I can buy a virtual ticket to watch the full footage with millions of cameras and HD quality streaming.
I don't want all that, I just want a mediocre to decent streaming for the tournament matches to watch IF I have the time. I won't buy something that I don't know if I will have time to watch.

A game toggle would just be great totally agreed
I too have lost high lvl HC characters because some a-hole went hostel on me in game when doing PvM. I don't mind the system the way it is but it would be nice if they give you and option to accept it, so to speak, so that it isn't one way. In other words, if you don't "accept" their hostility towards you then they can't attack you. Make sense? But even a game toggle would be nice.
