I don't know if this has already been asked but what do you guys thinks some of the other summons for the Witch Doctor will be. I was thinking something like a fallen that has been enslaved to do your biddings. what do you guys think ?
I'm not entirely sure how the Witch Doctor is compared to the Necromancer of the past, but so far the trend has been the same- summons are limited to undead, strictly. It's noted in the lore of, I think, every class of the previous games that involvement in the exploitation of demonic magic and/or demons, themselves, often leads to corruption (not just limited to in a Paladinic sense), and as such, this isn't a method used by the heroes.
Many characters in Sanctuary have tried to use demonic magic for good and were subverted by it, including, but not limited to, The Summoner, Nihlithak, The Countess, etc.
In fact, it's been noted that the Summoner had been using subverted demons to guard his Sanctuary and was subverted, thereof, rather indiscreetly, by NPC's in Act II, and in lots of monster lore, including that of the Imp (which first comes to mind- check the Arreat Summit for complete details), that they allow themselves to be summoned for the soul purpose of corrupting the summoner.
So I don't think we're going to be seeing enslaved demons as summons. However, I'd imagine a great deal of undead summons are definitely not out of the question.
But Horazon managed to use demons without getting corrupted, maybe we could use a secret disciple of him or something like that.

Horazon is the one that created the Arcane sanctuary, The Summoner is the sorcerer from Diablo 1 that manage to get in this place by going down to the hareem. The creatures in the Arcane Sanctuary where the ones Control by Horazon to guard his place. The Summoner was not controlling them, I guess they didnt atack him cause he was evil and I think that he was the one that allow Diablo travel to Tal rasha tomb by opening the portal that lead to the Arcane Sanctuary.
So in conclusion it is possible to control demons, Horazon did it, You just got to be an uber powerful sorcerer.
I didn't say that the Summoner created the Arcane Sanctuary, I said he used demons to defend it, which ended up destroying him because he became a slave to the will of Hell. I also never said they were the same person.
Horazon's death's source is unknown, but it's safe to assume his meddling with demons, which caused equally disturbing events in all the other people I mentioned which you neglected to acknowledge, did him in.
Furthermore, on the corruption of the Summoner because he meddled with demons:
After killing The Summoner, Deckard Cain tells the player that the sorcerer most likely got dragged down into Hell by the demons he was bound to, and warns the player against practicing demon magic.

The Summoner believed that he could bend Evil forces to his will. What he didn’t know was that Evil uses man, not the reverse...
So, I don't believe demonic summons would be viable for a character.

We don't know that hes dead. When did it say he was dead? There's a possibility that he was doing some other shit when the Sorcerer came into his sanctuary.
And I know you didn't said that The Summoner created the Arcane Sanctuary, I was just giving other peeps some info on Horazon, and how he was one of the few mortals to Control Demons, and you did not mention him.
I thought the sorcerer was already corrupted and went mad after trying to gain Horazon's power. I might be wrong though, but him failing to control demons does not rule out the possibility of others controlling them, perhaps he was weakened after the battle in tristram?
well I think that if blizzard makes just the undead as a summon it would be a bit boring I would like there to be a variety of new monsters as summons. and I was thinking it would be cool if the Witch Doctor had a spell like enslave were you could take over the demons mind for 2 mins then it will turn on you. but I guess they already have something like that with confusion.
So, I don't believe demonic summons would be viable for a character.
You think The sorcerer and Horazon had the same power, Horazon was able to create a different dimension, that makes me think he is extremely powerful, and that's why I think other people should be able to control demons if they are powerful enough.

The Witch Doctor already summn more then undeads. He summon bats, insects, spiders, frogs... It's not properly summon gameplaywise, but it's a summon lorewise anyway.

"Upon further discussions with my hosts, I discovered that these tribes define themselves by their belief in the Mbwiru Eikura, which roughly translates to "The Unformed Land" (this is an imprecise translation, as this concept is completely foreign to our culture and language). This belief holds that the true, sacred reality is veiled behind the physical one we normally experience."
I believe all those crazy animals he summons comes comes from the "Unformed Land". Maybe in higher level you can summon some guardian from that plane, like a avatar of their gods. It could be anything - from a giant ethereal snake to a stone statue.
well, maybe we'll have a flesh-golem, created assembling body parts of fallen enemies.
the strenght of it may depend on how many corpse wd can put his hands on. (apart from level, obviously)
