On and off today in Battle.net, I've been asking how many people played the original Diablo. I was kind of disturbed at how many hadn't. It's like they don't know their roots or something.
And I really hate it when I go into a Baal run and I ask for a party invite, and some level 98 is like "STFU noob." And of course, I might ask that guy if he's even played the original Diablo and he'll be like, "The first Diablo sucks." He says it without any capitalization or punctuation.
Yeah, the younger they are, the more brash they are and lack any respect for the older games. The same games that paved the way for what they enjoy playing today.
ive actually tried to play the first diablo on battlenet, but everyone i know made fun of me, and when they joined games it covered my screen with text. i was tired of it in ten minutes. however i do enjoy the first, and thats where all our roots are from. HAWOO!! for our roots.
I actually fired up Diablo last night.
Still scares the shit outa me and I got owned by the Butcher yet again
Still an absolute classic, the only thing that annoys me is not being able to run.Retreating like a snail while getting arrows shot up your ass is not fun.
lol agreed, WALKING for ur life just isnt the best stratigey here lol(i always remember it being better to just turn and fight lol
do you guys kill all the other monsters in level two, and three? thats what i do, in hopes that i may be able to kill the butcher easier. i think once i killed king leoric first, and the butcher still owned me. that guy is one tough cookie.
I have played Diablo I online, its not as good as in single player. And the other day, i went on just for laughs, and I only saw about 3 people online...
That butcher is one tough cookie!, Hes owned me so many times..
imagine if diablo 3 was a prequel, and it showed the butcher in his prime, the one we knew was old and fat, but this one is crazed and murders towns of people. that would be pwnage.
The Butcher may go down in gaming history as one of the most memorable monster in a game. He's known for being intimidating, scary as hell, surprisingly fast for his girth, difficult to kill, and for his famout line, "Ahhh, fresh meat!"
His lair is also probably the most violent and gory room I've also seen in a game. I noticed they tried in Diablo II to put the fear of the Overlords in you with the smiths in the Barracks and at Hell's Forge, but it's just not the same it is. However, I do like their lines as well. "I shall make weapons from your bones."
But those Overlords had a specific purpose. The Butcher had no real purpose as far as serving Hell was concerned. He was just sadistic and liked carving up humans. It was pretty unreal at the time. That's why I think the first Diablo was way cutting edge at the time. The only thing that compared to its politically incorrect nature at the time were the Doom games. But the Butcher's lair may still have been more gory than places I had seen in Doom.
The butcher is a classic character for or me.
But he never was that hard to beat...well for me.
The first time I met him, I lost died and then I never died against him again!
The best part about that game was that you were able to start over again again and again!

I like the life I lived, because I went from negative to positive.
You know very well who you are, don't let them hold you down, reach for the stars.
There probably are a descent number playing still. Lots of people like to take a trip down memory lane. I played it about 2 years ago and there were lots of people.

Appreciate what you've got because, basically, I'm fantastic.
the butcher is a classic character for all us because ten years from now if we all can only remember one thing about diablo1 it will probably be the butcher

Man, Diablo II fans by themselves are considered kind of underground and weird.
I wonder what kind of seedy characters are trapped in their basements playing the first Diablo online. It's just kind of interesting to think about.

To find the truth, you must risk everything.
