it looks pretty much the same as the one in the cinamatic
o and make sure you try it on single player
its against blizzards user agreement to use cheats on battle net lol
ps. after much research the diablo sword doesnt exist lore wise lol but it is a hacked item someone actually made for diablo 1 that looks like the sword from the intro =3
it got duped a couple hundred times and distributed on battlenet at some point getting confused as an actual item
I love that cinematic... Its Diablo is its purest form, all creepy and stuff... Except for the rainbow that comes out of the sword at the end:O
Symbolically, the sword in the stone would represent a hero coming to Tristram. Just like black crows represent bad omens
Its definitely not Tyraels sword anyway... And as far as I can remember, Diablo didn't have a sword
The Dark Wanderer had a sword like that I think (similar handle/hilt?), which would of been the Warriors sword, which in turn would tie into the "hero coming to Tristram" thing, because the Warrior is the canon hero of Diablo 1
Back then, a mysterious sword could be more gratuitous. Unlike now, where every little detail of every cinematic must be scrutinized and linked to something else. It's just a sword in the ground and it's fucking cool looking. That's all it is.
Yeah I know we do that here. But let's face it, a lot more meant a lot less back then. Speculating is good to a point, always. But after awhile, it all just turns into garbage. Um, present conversation excluded.

Probably just to emphasize on the world at the time. Many battles fought, many lost. The sword in the ground just represents this I would imagine. No one is taking up arms to combat the evil.
Although it could just mean that the sword is there waiting to get taken out of the ground by a worthy hero (you, the player) and take the fight to the evil itself. Meh.
yay im with that one makes most sense
btw after watching and comparing the movies
they used the same model for tyreal's sword that they did the opening for D1 xD
but it is still incorrect to say that sword is tyreal's sword since what i quoted above was what that sword meant in diablo 1
while that sword in diablo 2 meant a whole different thing all together =3
but in a manner of what the ppl meant ya tyreal's sword model is the opening sword from D1

THANK YOU !
My god, everyone goes apeshit about symbolism nowadays, why can't we just have something that looks cool and ominous.

and from what i remember it was a broad sword
thats what i think it was
i dont think it was tyreal's since he was only a concept at the time lol
plus it shows the sword as bad things start to happen down in the dungeons
so to me without a doubt its diablo's sword from the only set in diablo 1 lol
Be my Buddy =^.^=
go get a diablo 1 hack program
and look at diablo's sword
it looks pretty much the same as the one in the cinamatic

compare it before tyreal throws the sword while hes kneeling down you get a good look at it then =3
http://extreme-gamerz.org/diablo/viewdiablo/itmfiles
look under diablo items
if you put it in your file in diablo 1 using a hack program you can see diablo's sword a hacked item =3
also looks pretty similar to the cinematic =3
