I'm playing a warrior right now and i'm not sure how many points to put in str/dex/magic/vitality. Since the max level is 50 (i think) you can't max out everything, unless you dupe those pots who gives you attributes. I've been reading a guide who say your stats should be maxed out aroud level 45, soooo, what's the trick here ?
The Warrior won't be able to use many spells as it is, but he can get by just fine on having high dexterity and decent strength. Dexterity does wonders in D1. I remember just using my Rogue with a really high dexterity against Diablo and he had like no hit recovery and I'd just shoot him with arrows and they didn't do a lot of damage but he was still too slow to recover from them.
As for vitality, it's probably important too. I'd hate to just recommend you dupe the potions, but that's what I do every time. I can at least tell you not to put too many points in your magic just because the Warrior can do very little with it anyway.
str/vit is a must, enough dex to hit mobs enough and kill b4 getting swarmed, as for magic... learn teleport with +magic gear (and may switch if needed)
You will need + to magic gear for teleport anyway right? I thought Teleport req 70 magic to use or so. Maybe im just getting confused with a diffrent spell

when the stat is gold dont put anymore points into it or you ll lose the points =3
spells gain power from the spell lvl and your own char lvl
and try and find a stormshield 80 armor variation in hell =3 its a really yummy shield x3
(i either get that and the demonspike coat from the dead hero corpse and if not a pretty good item of some other sort)
bastard swords do awesome damage =3
aim for max vit
enough dex to have 100% hit
max magic if you want (maxes at 50) (i put a little and use heal lol)
rest into str (unlike in diablo 2, in diablo 1 it drastically increases damage)
Don't put much into Magic, like at all.
Best bet for a magic substitue (to learn spells) is to get yourself some equipment with +magic on it.
Throw them down in town, and equip them when you need to read a spellbook.
That is how I've managed to drill all my points into useful (for the warrior) stats, yet still have an extensive spellbook :D.
Anywho, aside from that, I'd put most of your points into Strength, then Vit, then Dex.
Dex is actually more important than you think, you can't utilize the Warrior's insane melee damage if you can't even hit a brick wall.
Basically put points into Dex when you can't hit things.
Put points into Vit when you're having trouble surviving combat.
Aside from those 2 instances, put all your points into strength.

in singleplayer, i put dex up to around 40 near the beggining to help me kill king leoric, then rest was just strengh and dex, didnt use one spell in the game, didnt really need it, with ranged enemies ide lure all the melee enemies away, kill them, then corner off the ranged attackers then killed them

well, after u learn it u have the spell right, and even warrior can afford at least 1 cast of the lvl 1 teleport at stock mana (assuming high enough level with default magic)
ur not a mage, u cant spam teleport like no tomorrow, so make the spell count and grab some kills
I concentrated on STR, a bit less VIT, a bit less DEX...
Teleport starts to sound like an exploit and I hate that stuff.
nah, if u want a true exploit then try this: (any) bow of the bear + chance to hit of 150-200% = no melee mobs can touch u (works even better with rogues, but dmg sucks so)
d1 was designed so every char can learn spells even if they suck at it, make good use of spells (even firebolts), and ull do fine
if u still hate it, use stonecurse instead, recharge mana every 1-2 shots, its not as 'exploitive'
lol you could use teleport as an instant shortcut to diablo in his lair but you ll need a mana pot for the escape in case your losing lol
LOL!
99% of the times, u'd get beaten to a pulp by the en masse of faggy demons right next to diablo, and knowing warrior's 'omg lag' cast speed, if u cant chop down all of them in time, there's no escape with teleport

If I am the Warrior, his Magic maxes out at 50, and his Dexterity maxes out at 60. Thus leaving me Vitality till it maxes out at 100, and Strength which will max out at 250.
That being said I can still put on items that add X amount to magic or all attributes (Zodiac) and learn new spells. Infact which the expansion, this is the only the warrior can learn apocaplyse as you need 149 magic to learn that spell from the book.
The Rogue's skills max out at the following values.
STR: 55
DEX: 250
MAG: 70
VIT: 80
The Sorcerer's skills max out at the following values.
STR: 45
DEX: 85
MAG: 250
VIT: 80
I primarily play as the Warrior, so I go with a character that has a lot of life, and hits like a truck in melee combat.

-Humankind cannot gain anything without first giving something in return. To obtain, something of equal value must be lost. That is alchemy's First Law of Equivalent Exchange. In those days, we really believed that to be the world's one, and only, truth.
