It happened to me a lot, but Alt+Tabbing used to fix, which obviously doesn't work for you since you are posting in a forum and your colors are still messed up
I checked all the compatibility marks, in the properties. I am on Windows 7. How do i fix the messed up rainbow colors?
Packman, and for others having this issue on windows 7, It is not his drivers nor compatibilty problems, try this only
#1 on Diablo exe file right click and go to compatibilty, and choose to run in windows xp sp2 than check these
-Disable visual themes
-Disable Desktop composition
-Disable Display scaling on high dpi Settings
and last run as admin click apply and ok
now the inportant part
before lauching the game, right click on the desktop and click resolution "change" "Dont change anthing (minimize it only) and than change background to solid "color black" only
im still getting a rainbow well everything. loading screen rainbow distortion, intro film pixles out of place and colour distortion and while im playing everything thats ment to be shodowing is rainbow distorted pixels can anyone help. ill send a pic if i can.
Hey guys I just created this account specifically to reply to this thread. I know how frustrating it can be when answers cannot be found so hopefully i can help somebody out who's been searching and searching. Here's what fixed it for me :
1. Create a new notepad file in the same directory as your Hellfire.exe executable
2. Enter the exact following and save it as a .bat filetype :
3. Run the .bat file to play Diablo: Hellfire and never again do you need to use the Hellfire.exe executable. What this .bat file will do is completely end explorer.exe (all folder will close as well, of course) and open up a black window followed by the launch of Diablo: Hellfire. Leave that black window open in the background, it's harmless. When you are done playing Diablo: Hellfire, exit the game, return to the black window and hit enter to automatically re-launch explorer.exe and carry on with your life.
Hey everyone, I did everything that you suggested above as well (just like attainteddragon) and I am still having the same issue. Diablo4Lyfe, does that work even if I don't have the Hellfire expansion, or is there something else that I need to do to fix it if I only have the original?

Should Be fine xD have fun
as the game wasnt made to run with a screen resolution higher than 800, 600
all you need is to lower the screen resolution
run as adminastrator
and run with windows xp service pack 3 or lower
this fixes old games for me (and has fixed diablo 1 before for me =3)
Be my Buddy =^.^=
I'm having this problem too and will try these solutions later, i hope they work
np, your welcome!
