A gladiator arena , you would only be able to join by creating a lvl 1 gladiator. To earn exp. you need to kill other players at lvl 1. and to reach lvl 60. you would have to kill your way threw PvP only.
you cant import or export players out of the gladiator mode.
Hardcore mode : you die permanently and have to restart at lvl 1
i heared a similar idea in the last diablocast but you get a month to level up your character and the winner stays for the next month until someone else beats him (king of the hill style)
They already have a gladiator arena type system. Don't know if I read what you said correctly, but I remember watching an arena video at http://progressived3.com
It was from a really long time ago, but they have already implemented this system. It looks fun, although the player playing wasn't so good
Ok, so Maybe I am not understanding this.... Is it you sign up for the tournament, then you have 1 month to level your toon.
Possibly all different levels of toon. However, the issue I have is that people will say wow I only made level 40 and there is a 45... Im droppin out.
For this to be able to work, it would have to be that when you sign up you are commiting to it within the system. The toon would level only in single player mode upon creating a tourney character, and be restricted from AH use. The day of the tournament, toons that are "tourney" tagged who are online are sorted into brackets and launched into matches until a Champion is crowned!!
Those "tourney" toons not online .... Die as if they lost the tourney. 1 Winner left standing at the end. Championed and automatically entered into the following months tournament, returned to a level 1 character. However for winning they get to keep 1 item from there previous toon to carry forward to the next level 1 toon. Names immortalized in the Scroll of Champions upon the Victors inevitable demise, indicating how many Tournaments they won before being brutally dispatched.
What if they come up with something like wager matches where ppl are able to challenge eachother. each player will be able to see the other players gear b4 deciding whether or not to accept the challenge; therefore gear wont b such a significant difference and at the same time thru this match up you are able to (for lack of a better wor) bet and items or gold you may want...
Wow that would be amazing. I mean how many MMO's have we honestly played where we had to level by killing NPC's over and over. It would definitely be a nice change of pace to be killing REAL players for EXP.
I think this is a good isea, but I think in order for a system like this to work they would need to do a lot of work to make the system fair. Some kind of matching based on level so as you level up you fight other fighters who are around the same level. The problem is that this opens up even more problem. Cause it really wouldn't be any fun for people after a few months when a handfull of higher level players have a complete domination of the arenas. Now if you gained experience even after loosing a match and didn't have perma death, you may be on to something.

show me your ideas.

I'm all for any expansion of D3's PVP. I hope they add to it in the expansion if not earlier.
