Nope. The developers don't seem to be very focused on PvP. But let's be honest, there's certainly more important things that they need to be working on.
This is coming from a huge PvP fanatic.

Playing a Wizard. Looking for Demon Hunters to play with.
I'm sure this has already been covered in the forums, so my apoligizes in advance.
Anyone know if there will be items only awarded for awards for PVP play?
if there is no real scoring, or payoff, I can't see it being very popular or addicting.
As of now, no. This game will be geared more towards just dungeon crawling. Maybe in a patch or an expansion they will release PVP specs, but as it stands the game is more PVE. I personally am thrilled because I can get a pvp fix anywhere, but the PVE that Diablo III will give us will be fantastic.
Tbh i would expect that later on they give much more attention to PvP i mean yes PvE is nice and fun for a pretty while, but after playing really a lot, nothing more fun then playing against other players. Knowing Blizz they wont miss on much players who really like PvP so they are gonna make it pretty nice for them later on aswell imo.

I don't think they will be adding more to the PvP area (read PvP rewards), other than new maps/game types.
They might be doing so for an expansion, which is still doubtful. I mean the game is centered to PvE dungeoncrawl, and that is pretty much how it will stay.
I don't think they want their Diablo world to end up into a PvP world where pretty much all people are playing PvP and not doing the PvE content (which I think most people will).
There has never been a time when Diablo has offered more than it does in Diablo 3, and from their standpoint on it, I doubt they will be making an effort to add even more PvP aspects beyond what they already have. Maps, titles, achievements, that's most likely how it's going to stay as far as PvP content.
Diablo 2 was a lot more about dungeon crawling and exploring then PVP, regardless though Diablo 2 has a big PVP base. I don't see that changing much for Diablo 3, the whole focusing on dungeon crawling rather then PVP but a lot has changed since Diablo 2. I'm sure something in regards to PVP will be included.
I played for years on a mmo pvp server, with no scoring or rewards for participating in pvp. The only side benefits were bragging rights and access to rare spawns once you'd killed the competition. Every person there participated in pvp because they enjoyed it.
PvP in PVE games tends to devolve lately into dangling rewards in front of players, trying to entice them to pvp. Honestly, I'd rather only play against people who pvp because its fun. I want no rewards, be it items, gold, or experience. Doing so leads to a very bad experience for those of us who enjoy pvp. The vast majority of pvp I've had the misfortune of experiencing in games like WoW went one of two ways: Either you get lucky and most of your team is comprised of good pvpers and the other team is not, or vice versa.
Playing a match with equally skilled opponents is near impossible unless you reach the higher echelons of some sort of ranked pvp system. The time invested to get to these ranks is actually the opposite of fun. To make matters worse, you have people rising in these ranks who dislike pvp, but are doing it to achieve rewards which will help them in PvE. It just devolves into an experience which I'd rather not repeat.
I'm fine with the direction diablo's pvp seems to be taking (http://us.blizzard.com/diablo3/world/systems/pvp.xml), as it seems to offer minimal incentive, and that incentive has no benefit outside PvP. While I'm sure the lack of incentives will lead many people not to participate, and lead to a smaller pvp base, I'd much rather have something small and fun, rather than large and not fun.
