Since it is so much hype on the diablo 3 pvp balance,i thought i was going to ask you guys:
What skill do you guys think will be the most OP skill in pvp?
My first thought comes to the Wizards archon skill, the reason why is because i watced some vids from the pvp tournament at blizzcon, and a lot of ppl mentioned the Archon

They never said D3 was going to have balanced PvP. I really do not see the point in talking about it much when the dev team admitted to putting PvP behind many other aspects of the title. That being said some of what I have seen in the Barb tree and the Wizard tree can be potentially devastating. Archon for one example. However I would like to add Monk has 7SS, that when runed properly, can provide about 2000% wep damage in one shot. Every class seems to have some reason why they are OP compared to another so it is kinda hard to judge this early.
If you asked me what preference I would have it would probably be Archon.

While I honestly can't think of anything that stands out as blatantly OP'd and obvious for pvp, I will say I played with archon in pvp at blizzcon, and it wasn't that powerful. Yes you get either an up close kind of melee aoe attack, or an awesome looking disintegrate, both of which pretty powerful, but your lack of speed alone makes you SUCH and easy target. I learned almost immediately not to pop that unless I was confident I had my teams backup, because even with the armor increase, you're a sitting duck. I actually think that's the only time the monk or the DH ever killed me was when I was in archon =D So I think it's a fair trade off.
Nice posts here!
And i kind of have to agree with snaks, since a lot of abilities can seem overpowered, but it differs from what happends in practice and how you can counter the different things, but i suppose we will have to wait and see untill the game comes out!
Althou if i had to choose a bet on wich class wich whould be OP i suppose it whould be a wizard with the insane combos they can pull of.
Gah! looking forward to diablo so much now! both pve and pvp side of it! Wtb beta or release date ^^!
All classes have abilities to make gaps between them and the opponent and to close them, as of right now it seems that major factors in pvp will be the player, timing cd's, and rng. It doesn't really seem like one specific class is going to be able to dominate in pvp, although there are some pretty amazing abilities that you're going to have to watch out for i.e. seven sided strike, earthquake, archon, ect. But mainly its really all going to come down to pure skill which is going to be fun as hell. Also, I don't recall ever hearing about it, but is there going to be some sort of Leaderboard/ranking system in D3's pvp? I would asume there is, would be pretty lame if there isn't, but I wasn't 100% sure if there is.
Initially we will have some skills that will be OP, but I don't think that anything will be left like that. Surely a patch will balance things out as players find things like that. Too bad the beta limits the player level and skills, because if it didn't, some of that balancing would already have been done.
The Hex skill for WDs disables you for 8 seconds and has a 10 second cooldown. Anyone remember the Shaman 6sec silence with 8sec cooldown? add the horrify and confuse skills and quit the game. I wonder how diminishing returns will work and whether all CCs and stuns will have a shared immunity cooldown and how long will that be. In wow you have to wait 8 seconds for diminishing returns to reset, but if hex, confuse and horrify are on different returns then you can pretty much keep a character disabled in definitively ; on the other hands if they are on a shared CD then you can only really use 1 per build. Also worht asking how many hexes will the hex totem cast at one point in pvp and how often it will heal allies.
I fear of Wizards being OP in general vs Melee. I don't know how you can even reach a good Wizard.
Frost nova > Teleport > Wave of Force > Teleport (Reversal for PvP seems to be the best option imo), and rinse and repeat. and if SOMEHOW they catch you, either your team helps or you can Diamond Skin up.
Since Wizard's base damage is sick anyway you can easily have 3-4 defensive and 2 offensive.
Not to mention that DS and FN are FREE and on a 12-15 sec CD. Which makes it even more sick.
Don't know yet, guess we'll have to see though :/..
