Has there been anything said about rewards for PvP (besides achievements)?
What about a way of wagering gold on a match before it starts? It wouldn't be mandatory but I think it would be a cool option to give people a motive for playing or winning. Just a thought and wanted to see what others thought.
Not shure if it has been said anything about it, but it is a fun idea! but it shouldnt be "forced" when you play pvp.
I rather think that blizz will impliment some sort of ranking system(similar to wow), where you earn point in some kind of way.
Thou it whould be fun to get gold/loot etc as rewards. but it whould make it very similar to wow then IMO.

I do not have a quote but, i believe blizzard said there was a match making system, just not like WoW. It would match you up to play against people of your level however, these rankings are not visible so it doesn't become eSportish~.
Also, i hope we dont get loot or gold from PVP it should be more about the fun, but the gold wagers is a nice idea and they should think about implementing that
I believe Blizz will in future put much more thought into everything concerning PvP, coz now they're really focused on making us all a great balanced game which everyone can enjoy. But when they finally release it and after they have time, think they'll work on PvP much more, coz they know that's what much people want, i mean no better feeling then playing against other players. So maybe in expansion i would expect some PvP gear or something similar to it.
I thought about wagering a piece of gear, but that would be tough for everyone to agree, especially if the arena matches are 4v4. Gold would be easy saying each team wagers X amount of gold, so each person gives that much in order to win it back, or lose it. I also like gold because you aren't rewarding people with great gear for those who don't like PvP. It is just gold that anyone can get.
I do like the idea of not having specific gear just for PVP and I agree that they are, and should, focus on the main game now.
A fundamental issue that they wanted to avoid in D3 as having to simultaneously balance skills for PvE and PvP which inevitably dilutes the "awesomeness" of skills for both modes of play. Far too often an idea that is really cool for PvE is completely broken for PvP, and vice versa. I saw this after (or leading up to) almost every major patch back when I played WoW.
PvE and PvP just don't play well together in regards to skills and developers don't like the idea of having two different sets of skills. So, it is probably best for developers to focus primarily on one mode of play (PvE or PvP) until we start to see human-like AI's in games.
From what I understand you will be using your normal gear for pvp and there wont be any PVP special gear at all, Think they learned it from WoW. That mixing those 2 is really really hard.
Welfare PvP gear...NO THANK YOU!

PvP should offer pvp gear.. not add resilience or anything, but add items, like end game items you'd farm from *diablo?*, except pvp gear will just stand out as pvp gear.
Its' not like wow, where you'd add resilience and break pvp -.- dumbasses... Just make pvp gear look different to pve gear. its basically just adding an extra 5 gear sets, rewarded through *winning x amount of games, or y amount of achievement/different achievement unlocks* In no way is pvp gear better or worse than pve, just different visuals.
The fact that PVP is included in diablo 3 should be more then sufficient. In diablo 2 before dueling there wasn't any "hold on why I change into my pvp set", you smashed each other in what you used for PVE (maybe 1-2 items changed, but still PVE gear).
"When the PvP patch is ultimately ready, it will add multiple Arena maps with themed locations and layouts, PvP-centric achievements, and a matchmaking system that will help you and your team get into fairly matched games quickly and easily. We’ll also be adding a personal progression system that will reward you for successfully bashing in the other team’s skulls."
as u can see they didn't mentioned pvp items - so if there might be any pvp items i will guess next expansion the earliest. as much as i believe they said they didn't want to focus alot in pvp in D3 when it comes to balance( which means pvp items also need some kind of balancing), they r a dynamic company and they might think differently in the future( tho i don't think u should count on it in the next year or so).
personally i am not much of a pvp fan so either way i don't mind much - but i thought u guys should see this info,
I believe that they won't change skills for pvp play and this will make one on one matches not fair for some classes.
But at the same time I believe that the most popular matches will be three on three as skills of different characters may synergize nicely, so even if one is not viable by himself in pvp he may make another character twice as powerful because of a good synergy, or even if some character is week when alone he may be powerful with another character support abilities (not that we will see any priests there :)) Synergies and randomnes of such fights will make it interesting and at least moderately fair not per each fight but across 5-10 fights.
Regarding pve. As far I've seen the inferno level elites with 4-6 affixes will be quite a challenge so if you can kick their asses you should be able to fight in arena somehow as you will be prepared to fight with unexpected. So D3 pve is not that far of from pvp where you have to fight unexpected.
Regarding looking different when pvp vs pve. Blizzard will probably let us win some dyes which are specific for pvp so we can dye our armor with them. Should be good enough.
Regarding gold wagering, I think it would be a great idea and in RAHM age blizzard may even allow it though it would depend of the country you live in as I think there are laws behind this things. Even if this won't happen I believe that winning team will always get some gold as blizzard will want to let ppl playing pvp earn some money which they would otherwise loot from mobs playing pve in equal amount of time (taking cost of looted items for consideration too).
So summarizing if above are all implemented (most are already) and they are not unrealistic by any means (maybe gold wagering is) we can see three on three matches being quite fair across multiple matches, pvp players will look different than pve and we won't loose a lot playing pvp cause of gold winnings (if we win ofc :)). And pve on inferno level may quite well prepare us for pvp matches of low rank.
