The PvP system is still in a period of change and there is no definite schedule for its launch but the PvP system will be a completely open game mode. However, skills in their nature will remain the same, such as damage output, stun period, for example, may be reduced in PvP.
"It is hoped PvP mode will be in the game by the end of 2012."
What do you mean youre skeptical ? Unless the translator or the original interview report blatantly lied, it's true.
Personally I'm not surprised.
Were people REALLY expecting PVP in 1 or 2 months ??? This is blizzard they take 7 months to release WoW patches. They want a full pvp system I always though it would take around 6 months post release.

WELL I GUESS YOU'RE RIGHT but im just in shock and awe, left in hopeful disbelief i suppose. I mean, several times they say PVP will be released in a patch post-launch. I GUESS techincally post-launch patch could be at the end of the year, but hopefullness kind of leans to 2-3 months after launch or so. </Lesigh>
Is the Arena you are developing a lot different from the one we saw at Blizzcon 2011? What about just regular field PvP and other PvP methods? There are changes to the Arena compared to the blizzcon version but it won’t be too different. We excluded PVP simply because it was not ready and we are also preparing many other things. However it is hard to reveal that in such an early stage of development. Developers don’t want Diablo 3 to be PvP centered game, what they believe is the game is more PvE co-op heavy.
if you read the original article and look at alternative translations, it seems more like by a "end of 2012" (end of the year) to be safe kind of statement, I dont think they really expect it to take to long.
We had that article yesterday, but honestly the google translation IS NOT a good thing to go off of atm. (for the TW that is)

They could easily do it faster than that, but they are releasing so much in 2012 that they are probably removing just about everyone from the D3 team once it releases.

One is never hurt by being given additional choices, only by taking them away. A QUADRILLION MAGIC FIND is worthless if you can't kill shit!

My point was, they never do anything fast. I mean I love their stuff but if you expect something in X amount of time, 2X is more likely
Aww, I was really looking forward to be able to do lots and lots of PvP a couple of months after release...
I know my friends aren't as enthusiastic about D3 as I am and I'm 99% sure they wont still be playing D3 at the end of the year, so I'll have no one to PvP with.
This sucks big time.
I'm in the same situation :(. Thought TBH I will defeinitely be buying the game at launch and playing it through, but I may stop playing once I've leveled the characters I want to level if I don't feel there is enough end-game content. PVP is my end-game content and for Blizzard to sh*t on my face as well as everyone else who is a hardcore Diablo fan who loves PVP is down right shameful IMO. Don't get me wrong, I'll likely pick D3 back up after they impliment PVP as long as they impliment it well.
They can't.. I mean, they just can't.. like seriously? Another 7 months to develop something that has a lot of code written already (we've had PvP demos on Blizzcon since 2010), and something that's not supposed to be perfectly balanced?
Unless the PvP patch comes with dozens of arenas, absurd customization in private matches, this is just a bad joke to me if they're not going to release PvP anytime early, they should at least allow us to go agree on going hostile in private matches, for some 2x2 fun 7 months is just too much time..
I hope they give us some info soon confirming that it was a stretch, and that they hope to deliver it in 1-2 months..
I'm a bit disappointed that its going to be that far out but it doesn't really surprise me. PvP was never a primary focus for Blizzard with Diablo 3. This just solidifies that fact. Diablo 3 is a co~op focused game first and foremost. I do hope that they take those months to build a very awesome Arena system though. Perhaps we'll end up with a bunch of game modes to give a variety to PvP play.
damage will be the same
stun length will be the same
as pvp never was supposed to be balanced
and it will come a few months into the game (they even said that)

You realize these are Jay Wilson's words, right? The only way it could be wrong is if the translation is wrong.

well i don't belive it untill i can read it in blue.
but they might reduce all damage delt whit 50% or somthing, so i take that back (it somthing like that in d2)
Blizzard took 6 months to code in sad weak chat channels in SC2, why the hell would you give them the benefit of the doubt for 1-2 months ha? They have never released anything in a timely manner. Actually I would be surprised at end of 2012. I can see them pushing it farther. Hope they really add some great stuff, but then again like the chat channels the trust in them is lacking.

oooooooooooh reverse trolled!
Regarding the PvP... "end of 2012" is very disheartening
