That particular RAM is a really good value right now. I've got 16 gigs of it in my computer now. Don't really need that much but it's fun to max it out anyway. I like how easy it is to overclock. Though I'm sure 1600 is probably standard on more RAM these days anyway.

Yeah I have been extremely happy with this ram since i bought it. I have been debating to OC it by about 10% since im sure i have enough cooling in my system for it to run stable however at this point in time i do not see a need to. If D3 takes a little more ram then i was expecting to run it smoothly at the highest graphics i may look into doing so.
So I got my steelseries Diablo 3 headset today. I have run into one probably in relation to firefox and using my headphones. For some reason I can't get any sound from firefox through my new headphones. I get sound of my computer i.e. media player classic, computer games. However, I can't get sound in firefox i.e. no sound in youtube. Any solutions?

Have you checked the sound mixer that Firefox audio is actually turned up? If you click the sound icon in the lower right corner and click Mixer you should see all your applications and their sound levels. Maybe that's the problem? If not I have no clue what it could be.
This is the computer that was purchased for me. I tried to negotiate up the video card and memory as much as I could. How will D3 perform on this? I'm really hoping it will be close to max settings at the very least

thinks you guys are funny, any computer that could run diablo 2 could run diablo 3 lol, its not the most intense game. my old 5000+ dual core with 2 gigs and 7950 could easily run this game.
then again my system now can handle anything so....

Soo having an issue with my computer lately. Normally when I do the shut down function it takes like 10 minutes to shut down. Gets stuck on the saving settings screen for like 8 minutes. Last night it was stuck on the saving settings screen for 9 hours :\. Then I reset my computer and it came up with a message saying something along the lines of "a file was lost and needed to be recovered. File successfully recovered".
i just bought my computer to run Diablo 3...its probably run Diablo 3 with high performance...
since im playing battlefield 3, dead island and skyrim all in ultra mode.

Good day. Recently some shitheads broke into me and my roommate's flat and stole a bunch of stuff (luckily not my pc) and my pc mouse was one of them. I'm using a crappy mouse just for the moment, till I can buy me a good one. I want to buy my new mouse at the online store where I bought my pc parts cause they're real good. So I had the Logitech MK710 wireless mouse & keyboard combo, well still got the keyboard, just needs a mouse.
But you obviously know which one is best, for gaming at least. Read a couple of reviews and there was just praise given, especially cost/performance ratio. Gonna buy BF3 once I get this mouse, so I'm gonna use my mouse mainly for gaming...and once D3 is released of course. And I want a wired mouse, my last one lagged sometimes.
So question: I use a combination between the Claw and Fingertip grip (my palm doesn't touch back of mouse & my fingers are like the claw grip [I have quite large hands]) and the size of the DA is: 127 mm / 5.00” (Length) x 70 mm / 2.76” (Width) x 44 mm / 1.73” (Height) but my previous mouse was real tiny so it was easy to use!
So is there any DA users that can verify or help me with whether it's possible/comfortable to use these grips with this large mouse? And if there is any other recommendations to a mouse, I'll appreciate it! Thanks.

I do hope you are joking. I played Diablo 2 on a 180 MHz Pentium Pro with a 2 MB video card, 2.5 GB HDD, and 32 megabytes of RAM.
The shape of the death adder isn't that strange. It's pretty standard. So unless your use to one of the weird ass logitech designs I can't see any problem with using it. I don't have one but my bro does and I use his computer a fair bit. It also looks really cool

Yeah I wouldn't say I'm used to the weird Logitech designs cause I had that one for just a couple of months. And besides, you (or rather I) gets use to mice in just a couple of days, perhaps a week. So the getting used to doesn't bother me. I have the shitty one for a week now and I already pwned with it in BF3!
But yeah thanks for that bit of info, guess I'm gonna buy one then, it's just Logi-cal...
Anyone wanna help me pick out a new video card? I'm ditching my GTX 460 (which has been very good to me) for something slightly higher end.
I've also been pretty loyal to Nvidia, but could it be time to consider Radeon? I've seriously read so many mixed things about both cards. I'm leaning toward the GTX 560 (not the Ti) which based on what I've read seems mostly like an overclocked GTX 460. The 560 Ti is beyond my price range. The GTX 550 Ti slightly outperforms the 460 and is now a more decent price (I didn't get it originally cause about 8 months ago it was overpriced).
I was even considering the GTX 550 Ti 2GB card cause the price seemed pretty decent but I've read the 550 Ti isn't even that powerful to really utilize the extra gig on it.
So I'm thinking my price range is from 160-190. Any advice?
Hey Slaynoq, is there's a reason why you want to get a new card? like a certain game that's struggling?
Because to be honest, I dont see how a 560 will be worth it, you won't notice any improvements, and you have to go through the trouble of selling your 460 for much less and putting in extra money to get a new card.
If you are set on getting a new video card, I see 4 options:
1. if your motherboard and psu allows you, maybe get another 460.
2. It is rumoured that AMD is releasing their 7800s early march. They will still be out of your price range, but the performance may be able to justify the extra cost. It is also likely that prices of other cards will drop. If nothing is stressing your card, maybe wait a bit more.
3. Currently the cheapest for a 560ti I can find in Canada is 199.99 after mail in rebate, if you are in the US, i'm sure you can find very good deals on it, and might be able to get a 560ti within your budget.
4. 2nd hand cards... I dont like them just because sometimes warranty don't carry over, and you dont know what the owner did to the card. But there's a nice 2nd hand market at this time since AMD's new 7970 and 7950 just came out, and many are upgrading and selling off their old card, so you might find some good stuff.
Personally, performance wise, I would go at least 570 gtx level to make the upgrade worthwhile
Yeah the more I read about these different cards, the impression I'm getting is that the differences in performances may be negligible. I'm building a new rig and selling my current one that contains the 460. I'm mostly into upgrading my processor, ram, mobo, and finally investing in an ssd. So I realize a new video card beyond a 460 may not be worth it. But I thought I'd try to upgrade the video card even a bit since I have to get a new one anyway.
So no, I'm not replacing just the video card but building an entirely new rig otherwise I'd be fine just to stick with the 460. But since I'm building it all new anyway I figured maybe I should at least go with the 550 Ti now since it's more reasonably priced than it was last summer. What do you think?
I see, good for you for building a new rig, I love building new PCs
The 550Ti won't be a good idea since it'll be more like a downgrade than your 460, from what I see it is consistently below 460 by about 10%. Even though you are not looking for a significant upgrade, I think you should at least get a 560 ti to make the move somewhat worthwhile
Is there a budget for your PC? and is it something you want to do right away?
The reason why I ask that is if you are willing to wait another 2 months (a long time i know) you would be able to get Ivy Bridge from Intel, and possibly Kepler from Nvidia. But of course your budget will go up.
So if your goal is to build the best damn budget gaming machine, Sandy Bridge is plenty of power, and there's lots of good deals on the market. Heck if you are not playing much games, you can just use SB's internal graphics and hold on until you find a good videocard deal (just make sure your motherboard supports SB's internal graphics)

This game easily runs on all of last year's hardware...
I still wish I could get my RAID finished soon though. Get those faster load times would be nice.
