But when you attack the Prophet Mohamed, they call it freedom of speech.

Well... everything you mentioned is within the boundaries of freedom of speech. The reason the Muhammad thing is an issue is because the extremist Muslims threatens to actually kill people over it. Which I find quite hilarious.

I don't understand what you don't get. Most of the recent hype has come from South Park. Everyone is trying to defend their freedom of speech to do that. Why? Well, because they have made fun of every single issue you mentioned. But now, all of a sudden, this is something so important that networks are bleeping it.

Even more funny is that Muhammad discouraged any prophet veneration which has clearly been ignored by the Islam community of today.

It doesn't really concern me, but this guy I know told me what I posted, and I wanted to see what everyone thinks. I don't think this is within the boundaries of prophet veneration. It's just that Muslims stick to saying that nobody knows what Jesus, Mohamed, or any other prophet looks like, and it is consequently blasphemous to portray prophets using images and such.

That's why I'm glad I live in a place where we outnumber them. That may sound bad but, I know I wouldn't want to live in a place where I have to fear for my life because I made a joke. Lulz serious?

Edit: If it enters a realm of Blasphemy, that to me enters the bounds of Veneration. In the religion I was raised in (and no longer endorse), a sect of Christianity, completely and totally discourages any prophet veneration such as that of Jesus, Muhammad or The Mother Mary. Anything like that to them, takes away praise to God. Likewise, from my own interpretation of what Islam teaches, giving praise to the prophets takes away from praise of Allah which doesn't really seem to be an issue for them.

I know that it's got nothing to do with Islam, because all the stuff that they make you see on television, is completely and utterly out of Islam. Beheading people after forcing them to convert, killing innocent people, all that shite that they want people to believe, to consequently hate Islam, is completely and utterly absurd. It troubles me to see that some actually believe this, and actually believe that Islam is a religion of war, brutality, crimes, and barbarity. The wrong people are giving out wrong portrayals of Islam everyday, and it's really really sad. It's really really annoying and insulting to people who correctly embrace the religion of Islam, which is a religion of brotherhood, peace, and love, just like every other religion. I like Christians. I actually prefer them over Muslims in Lebanon any day. It's got nothing to do with religion, because religion does not define a person. One can't judge an entire religion based on the actions of a group of people. If that were the case, then I would judge Christianity based on the brutal things that the church has committed many many years ago, based on the crusaders, based on everything terrible done by terrible individuals. I would also hate Islam based on the actions of heretics and idiots that we see on the news nearly everyday. I'd also base my point of view on Judaism based on the war crimes that the Israeli army has committed in Lebanon. But I don't do that, because I have enough intelligence in me. I only hope that other people acquire that basic form of intelligence.

You were the last person I expected to hear that from. Sane individuals wouldn't hurt you if you said things. They'd just stay away from you because you were rude and vulgar. I'm a Muslim, but I would in no way shape or form inflict any physical harm on you because you cursed Islam, my prophet, my holy book, or anything bearing any relevance to my religion or beliefs. Those whom you are speaking of are not Muslims, they are uneducated criminals who should be put behind bars, just like any other extremist idiot. Some Southerners in America are terrible, but I wouldn't mind living alongside them, because the law protects me, and I know better than to generalize like you just did.

You can praise the prophets. It is actually encouraged. You may be speaking of the Wahhabi sect, which is denounced by most Muslims, but is followed quite a bit in Saudi Arabia. They ban the praise of Muhammad, or anything like that. That in itself, to most other Muslims, is pure blasphemy.

Well, you do know that Osama Ben Ladin (Laden?) had a college education right? I actually got the chance to read a letter in which he broke down everything in his reasoning in a rational manner as to why he is doing what he is doing in the name of Allah.

I'm not saying I don't like Muslims, more than one friend of mine is Muslim lol. Nor am I saying that I believe Islam to be a religion of war or anything, I'm not that stupid. I'm simply saying that there are fairly intelligent "Muslims" out there with such strong conviction that the only rational solution is Jihad. I think Islam is as good a religion as any, but there are places where I would not want to be if I had to fear for my life because of a Muslim or a Christian or a Buddhist that had such a strong conviction that my life could be in danger.

That I understand. I'm sure nearly all of us share that sentiment. But you're contradicting yourself man.

I have said it in numerous times- religion practiced by the 'stupid' or close-minded is just disastrous.
I value religion for the discipline it seeks to instill in the individual, not the god or prophet it glorifies. This is too insubstantial for me to base my faith on.

As to Muslim issue (not really an issue!), when you said you don't get this, it automatically made me think of my intolerant Muslim neighbors. I live in a place with many different ethnicity and religious beliefs and that goddamn disguised hate that transpires from our fake relationships disgusts me. All it needs is the smallest trigger and you'll see how ugly religion has made us.
We think our beliefs gives us privileges (both in life and after-life). That's not religion. It's dumbassery(this word will be added very shortly to the oxford dictionary)!

My uncle actually has level 20 Fanaticism aura with a +6 bonus from his rosary. It's very sad..you have to choose your words very wisely so you avoid a long assed religious speech telling you what you said wrong, and what you should say. It's sad, pathetic, and really annoying.

Ya, sorry about that, my apologies. I try not to discriminate against anybody or pick a side. But, Nekro's post just made me shiver a bit. When I say blunt statements like that, it's under the assumption that your in my mind understanding the premise for it..which your not lol.

I don't actually know what parts of the Bible Muslims are familiar with or if you simply know this stuff. But when I think of Jihad of today, I can't help but think of the instance in which the complete slaughter of innocence is praised. In order to get to the "Promise Land" Joshua lead a force of merciless warriors for 28 years to conquer what would become Israel. According to scripture, they killed EVERYBODY. Kids, teens, moms, and of course babies. I don't know about you but that blows my mind. Religion is a very very scary thing that according to history, can convince people to do some scary stuff.

And thats why i praise atheism I personally dont have a problem with religion as an idea, but people just take them way to literally. My own opinion is that you should simply take the main message or idea of their stories to help yourself be better. But... there are the ones who take everything literally and take offense to any unjust talking of their religion. Tis just a fact of life, some people are just too passionate (or ignorant)

Its time to move on. Why "join" just one religion? Who decided that i am a Christian? i was born this way, no one asked me first. We can learn many amazing things from religions. I studied the old testament and really liked it. It has many things that were odd to me, but many other things that were simply brilliant.

All im trying to say is that the name only matters in the eyes of ignorants that follow the media of today blindly.
