I mentioned about this in my Introduction (which no one answered). I am thinking about creating a Diablo III mod for Morrowind. First, I will say that, due to legal concerns, Diablo III will not take place on "Sanctuary" per se. Instead, it will be based in the unknown province of Aldean. I haven't got a complete summary of it yet, but here is a good idea of what is going to happen.
Summary:
Following the destruction of the three Prime Evils, a new civil war raged in Hell for leadership for the Legions of the Damned. The two primary contestants again were Azmodan and Belial. Both had strong followings, but in the end, Azmodan proved the stronger, and crushed Belial. Azmodan now seeks domination of the entire Earth. Fearing the province of Sanctuary, Azmodan has decided to begin his conquest in the province of Aldean. His first move was to take Fort Allidan, now known as the Damned Fortress.
It's a work in progress, the ideas far from finished. I hope to recruit a few people from here to help with the ideas, or if anyone has Morrowind, it would be cool if they could help mod.
There is no other place to continue the plot of Diablo II besides Sanctuary.
I don't know about the legal applications using the name has but I don't think it is any different from using the name Diablo III or any other of the character in the game while referring it to the game.
If you want to know more about the lore of the game and how it is tied to Sanctuary and the humans, I suggest reading the last book, The Sin War Birthright.
For now, this might also help: http://img207.imageshack.us/img207/2176/schemeiiyz8.jpg
It might be a good idea to simply ask Blizzard to see if its ok, the guys that made HellFire did and it worked quite well for them.
I can not contribute to the making of the story line in a direct way as I refrain myself from interfering with the work of greater men then me.
I also can't help you with the building of the mod for I do not own the game Mirrowing or Oblivion for that matter.
I can however, offer my services with anything that regard the lore of the game, be it maps and locations, relations between characters or certain events in the history of Sanctuary and the time line.
So if have any questions regarding any of these, feel free to ask and I'll be happy to respond.

played Oblivion for some time (got the collectors edition :P). Pretty nice game. Now i keep myself busy with Gothic 3 when i'm not raiding in WoW.
I never really bothered playing mods of games. I prefer the official stuff.
I'm trying to get Oblivion, but, it keeps being sold out every single time I go to the store.
Blizzard has problems with Oblivion and Morrowind, so I'd rather keep this mod slightly on the down-low.
And, if it got out everywhere, the better it would be to have less ties to the original. Could someone give me a map of Sanctuary, so that I can check some ideas?
And no, it will definetely not take place on Sanctuary, because that could lead to obvious problems.

All of the places on the map exist in Sanctuary and I managed to place them as close as possible to their real location.
Also note that Bear's Hill, Brernnor, Gellan's Pass, Kehjan, Seram, Tulisam, Partha and Toraja might no longer exist in general or as populated cities.

Thank for the map. After looking at it, I would like to state that it seems rather impossible that only that amount of landmass would take up an entire world, making the possibility of there being another continent more feasible.
Also, it makes the creation of a mod such as this (in this particular case) easier when you do not have a map that you must work off of. Because then there is little room for interpretation. But when you make your own map, own ideas, then you can change almost anything without anyone being dissapointed :D.
But, don't worry, even with the new landscape, I have some pretty good ideas for storyline. I'm trying to set up a small forum section that anyone will be able to come and post on within my own forum, so I'll give a link to that later.
I forgot to mention that I would especially like people who are good with profiles to join. I'm having problems with my class profiles (only two so far, but I'm working on it) and the profiles that I copied from Wikipedia are really, really lame. Please contact me to help out.
Okay, btw, now I have Oblivion finally, so it will be made using the Oblivion engine. I'll need a week or so to figure out the new Construction Set, but I'll be completely figuring out the story, map, quests, etc. before I even get near starting to mod. As always, if anyone would like to help, it would be appreciated!
Well, Hellfire was made by Sierra, and both are owned by Vivendi, so that obviously solves that problem.
Using the names may be as much a problem of copyright, but I doubt they have Azmodan copyrighted, even if they can.
But hopefully a mod won't upset them too much, especially when it has only a few connections.
PlugY for Diablo II allows you to reset skills and stats, transfer items between characters in singleplayer, obtain all ladder runewords and do all Uberquests while offline. It is the only way to do all of the above. Please use it.
Supporting big shoulderpads and flashy armor since 2004.
I do to. But I have to wonder, can they really copyright something that doesn't exist yet? I mean, if they had announced it, screenshots were out, and demos were out, I could understand it being copyrighted. But, otherwise, I can't.
More good news, I think I have a blank .esp file to work off of, which means that I won't have to go and delete all of Cyrodiil myself.
But, I'm worried about how Oblivion was made. I was looking through the toolset, and even ingame, Oblivion seems to be made for Oblivion. What I mean to say is, it isn't really TC friendly. In Morrowind, the buildings were made so that it could all be made and configured differently, in Oblivion, it doesn't seem so. But, as always, I persevere.
