-Humankind cannot gain anything without first giving something in return. To obtain, something of equal value must be lost. That is alchemy's First Law of Equivalent Exchange. In those days, we really believed that to be the world's one, and only, truth.
You can customise your look in World of Warcraft, Neverwinter Nights, Baldur's Gate, Icewind Dale, Age of Conanan Might and Magic I - what are they up to now IX? X? XI?. Point is those games have more in common with Diablo than the Sims and they have customisation of character, size, height, body type, facial hair, scars, tattoos.

One is a Hack&Slash, the other is a MMO. One is free, the other is pay to play.
irrelevant
The money from both goes to the same place, but the above statement clearly shows WOW generates more coinage. Thus is very relevant. Diablo can only generate money through sales. WOW will continue to draw in revenue, it could have half the sale LOD does but due to fees it will make more money.
This will affect the decision of what to make Diablo 3. If it is like LOD then for 1 million copies sold that is $100 (NZ) multipled by 1 million users = $100 million. Now a pay to play MMO would be $100 x 1 million users + $50 for fees x the million users so that = $150 million dollars. And that is just the first 2 months. Fees are $50 for 2 months here, so for every consecutive 2 months that is another $50 million dollars. LOD only has game sales. The same would apply in either case for D3 during it's first month or so.

Oh man! I think I just may have come up with something that Diablo 3 should feature that no one else has thought of yet. I'm not willing to go searching right now through the thread to see if it's been suggested, so if it has, someone just tell me later, but I think think may be new.
It occurred to me as I was describing my latest character build and I realized how difficult it can be to lay out in detail how one might build a character with all their stat points, skill points, and items. So I thought, how cool would it be if at any time in your character developement, you could hit a hotkey that saved all of your character's information into one text file. And you could have it all be either abbreviated with all the little Diablo build notations and appreviation, or have it all spelled out manually. This way, when someone wanted to know the details of a build, we could just hit the key, then just like a screen shot, it would automatically save all the build information, items, and even inventory into one long list. It would specify what damage you are currently dealing, what your combined resistance is, all the different stats of all your gear, everything.
I just think that would be horribly convenient and would also allow players to more quickly assess the types of builds they would like to make. And people would be able to post this stat information easily onto forums so other players can make comparisons.
I know as it stands you can make screenshots of your character's gear and stats, but never before have you been able to capture all information on a character in one single file short of doing a lot of copying and pasting.
That's awesome!!
The number of pads, notebooks, ringbinders I've filled with notes on exactly that. I haven't done it for WOW yet, because I'm not that far in yet.
But I've done it countless times for LOD, what skills I will get at what level.
While doing these notes I worked out the Stat and skill equations.
STATS
5(n-1)+x
N is your level
X is either 0, 5, 10 or 15 (The +5 stat book)
SKILLS
(n-1)+x
N is your level
X is either 0, 4, 8 or 12 (Den of Evil, Book of Skill, reward for killing Izual)
When I made the equations I always did all of these quests every difficulty.

I wish for an other event than ubers for single player:
I was talking about how the ubers are a world event. not so much the ubers themselves.

- Features like the Uber bosses must be added to single player.
- The Merc must be a little stronger, cause you are always on your own (except for LAN playing / tcp/ip). - Special events for Single Player. Example: Sometimes a visitor will wander into town and will offer special trades. This might also be added to multiplayer, but it would be extra special to have it single player only.
Design (terrain) - More variation in terrain. Rocky mountain landscapes, scary dungeons, swamps, dry locations. D2 already had this in every act, but I would love to see more of it in D3.
Things in red are new.
Changelog:
03-09-08; I've deleted the server rating wish. Added a new category: ''Design (terrain)''. I've also added 2 more wishes, one is in the new category. Fixed some typos too.
Most of your terrain ideas, have been covered, just not put in a seperate category, they are currently under "World". And I think there is already mention of something that can be construed as the SP equivalent of the Ubers.

That would depend on how D3 works in regards to players/rooms/servers. Currently it's 8 players to one game.

I put a "world editor" in the list. Neverwinter Nights has a editor. It would be cool to make custom campaigns using the diablo world/monsters. Hence why I included it in the list.

I Always hated how in battle net i would get sooo much money on like the secret cow level but i would onyl be able to hole like 100,000 in my stash.
once you reach level 40, the stash increases in size every additional 2 levels. I forget the exact amount I think it's 50,000 or maybe it's 500,000.
As for space, yeh more room is needed. couple of twohanded sword your saving for later as you don't reach the requirements yet and BAM your stash is back to the size it was pre-expansion. throw in a few runes, and you have virtually no stash. Either the stash needs to be bigger or multiple stashes. How is it if i put a sword in a box in one town, it magically appears in a box in another town? shouldn't only be in the first town, as that's where I physically put it in a box?

I think the Merc responds to some of those commands. least it seems like they do. Retreat, follow me, help me.
I was under heavy fire hit the help me button and my barb merc that I had at the time came running over and opened a can of whoop ass. But then again that could have been mere coincidence.

They could learn something from Baldur's Gate II. you cant finish that game in a day, even if you leave out virtually all 300 of the side quests. Not even if you played it non stop for 24 hours straight, wizzing in a bottle, shitting in a bag, and smacking your little brother to go get nachos, err... and to get rid of the bottles and bags.
Some story related/story progression quests force you to take side quests, and some of them can be very, very long.
Try as I might, I can't finish that game in under 5 days. I think my record is 7 or 8. And that was when I was on holiday and didn't have a job or nagging parents, just me and my computer.
Also due to it's nature, you cannot get rushed in that game. You can't have some lvl 39 guy (max level is 40, unless a mod is installed), jump on and hook you up with a few waypoints and kill all the tough "end of act" bosses for you, you pretty much have to grind your way through the entire game. And no it's not just because there are no Waypoints to use, although that is a part of it. It's all based on the story related quests, and what the make you do while on said quests. they are generally a little more expansive than "go here kill that, right next quest".
But I will admit overall the Diablo series is a very good series, it does what it set out to do. though the "Hostiling" thing could do with some adjusting. Man is it annoying having some jackass jump in your game hostile you then kill you before you get a chance to get to town or quit out of the game, either due to lag or you not paying attention.
"agree to Hostile" thats really all that game needed. There is "agree to party, so the mechanics/technology or whatever is there. If I don't want to fight then it's simple I don't agree to them hostiling me. BAM pker problem solved, well fot the most part. someone will undoubtably find a way to hack the game and by pass this feature.
or alternatively both them and you must be in town to hostile.

and somewhat on game length as that tends to determine what level you max out at. if you count all 3 difficulties LOD is fairly long, so you max out at around 100. WOW seems shorter so you max out at a lower level, but that could also be due to how big the gaps are bewteen levels. In same games you level quite fast (smaller gaps) others slower (bigger gaps).
one game would be say 500 1000 2000 5000 while another might be 500 2000 6000. Based on those numbers a character in the first game has gone up 4 levels while the character in the other game has yet to reach his 3rd level up.
