-Barbarian
-Witch Doctor
-Rogue (kind of)
-Sorcerer
-Paladin (name may be modified)
And VERY probably 2 others for the expansion
-Monk (basically from hellfire)
-Something special we've never seen (shape shifting??)
What did the monk do?? I cannot remember. Rogue was able to duel wield, barb I don't remember, and monk... was weird.
Monk doesn't sound like an interesting class though. I'd much rather see something along the lines of assassin/druid/demonologist/necromancer

But, here is what I think a cool class would be.
Demomancer Skill Tree 1- Demonology (Summons Basic Demons, Future Skills will allow you to transform the basic summons into more powerful demons. Would probably include passive skills to increase the power of the basic and transformed demons.) Skill Tree 2- Shapeshifting (Allows the hero to transform into a demon and learn ability that can be used in those forms.) Skill Tree 3- Curses (Same idea as the Necromancers skill tree.)
What do you guys think?
yay for that idea!

There's plenty of Paladin "signature" skills; Starting with the auras. Moving on to Zeal, Sacrifice and Vengeance.
Don't want a Paladin? Opt for a Inquisitor!

You should rather read over my Inquisitor. I've gone to great pains not to make it a "Spanish Inquisition"-character. The contrast between the religious fervor, the name, and the abilities, the look and acting is very important.
I just noticed the links in your sig, lol, and I see they've got a lot of work put in them. But I just can't imagine Sacrifice, Zeal, and Vengeance being half as fun as the Barb's signature skills, or the WD's, or other classes. Some of the holy stuff looks neat, like Fist of Heavens... but then I'd rather just play a lightning sorc

I know. This thread is meant to be for discussion of the Barbarian and Witchdoctor, because they are classes that we know of. The other thread is meant to be about what classes we want to have.
But at the moment there isn't much to talk about, so the discussion has just lead to what we want to have, but with a bit more updated info in mind I suppose.
Oh yeah, but I love the name 'Inquisitor' because of its bad connotations. It makes it seem sinister. Sinister is cool.
Oh, that's what this thread is for? Woops.......
But a holy paladin type of character shouldn't be sinister. And if you read all the background and whatnot, maybe Inquisitor doesn't seem as bad, but the connotations are still there... meh.

So, um, in case no-one noticed there are 2 stickied threads regarding classes in the same forum ^_^.
As I posted in the other stickied thread, I'd like to see the Sisters of the Sightless Eye and Vizjerei Sorcerors [sic] again. It'll be interesting to see what Blizzard does with the classes now that they want both male and female versions of classes.
I know this is unlikely, but I would like to see the archer and mage classes split by gender as follows.
The reason for the distinction is because I'd also like to see a difference in the skill trees - enough to match up with the lore but not so much that they might as well be regarded different classes.
One dev said he didn't want to make any differences between the sexes so nobody could say they're biased toward one or the other; it's a purely aesthetic choice. But maybe they'll have sub classes, or the ability to choose factions, which will slightly change your skills/skilltrees.

Paladin ftw.
If they take out paladin, the basic essence of Diablo will be taken away. Think about it...Diablo I and II were in essence Heaven vs. Hell. Furthermore, Sanctuary is/was the battleground. IN ADDITION, Heaven's mild embodiment on Sanctuary to combat the Burning Hells was creating in the paladin class, which was the Diablo II dev teams favourite class in terms of lore. Thus, if they leave out the paladin class...alot of people won't be coming back. Sure, the barbarian was awesome in Diablo II...hell, I had a WW barb, a farming sorc and a hammerdin/smiter alot like many veterans of DII. But if they leave the paladin class out all together, it'll be unfortunate. Plus, they can't just fuse him with another class...he is all about being PURE and STEADFAST. The barb embodies a bit of that, but he is the token berserker. No way can the paladin be mixed with any other class, as it would contradict all that the class stands for.
KEEP THE PALADIN ALIVE!
NB - Blizzard, do NOT do what you did to the WoW Paladin...please -_-'
What would the paladin's signature skills be? An aura, a flying hammer skill, a shield bash? Barb took charge. Maybe a DotA-Omniknight like self heal/aoe damage skill? Weapon enchantments? Immolations?
I just can't think of anything that interesting or fun to play, for the paladin... but I never much liked playing him in D2 either. *shrug*

Also, now that there is officialy an asian-like place (Xiansai, it HAS to be asian, it's even a goddamn island), gimme my frakkin samurai/katana-wielding character using a badass oni mask!!!

Pets (like Druid's summons, or more creative creatures)
Demonologist aka Warlock
- tough, medium melee attack

Avatar (shapeshift into a demon that wields your weapons visibly, unlike werebear and werewolve in D2 where the weapons dissapear)
Furies (kind of like evil muses that hang around you and cannot be killed, and give party bonuses)
With this, there would be:
2 summoners (witch doctor and ranger)
2 sources of party bonuses (barb and demonologist)
2.5 mages (witch doctor, elementalist, and demonologist kind of)
2.5 high attackers (barb, hunter, and demonologist kind of)
Then in an expansion, there could be an assassin, or an arcane mage (maybe with a telekinetic skilltree?), or a paladin, and probably something completely new, like the Witch Doctor

The dev. never says the witch doctor is a improved necro. The dev. says something like the witch doctor is not necessarily a replacement for a necro. The dev. also says that there are ways of improving the necro. I am running the video again to get the direct quote. But looking at the dev.'s mannerisms makes it seem like there will be a necro.
Or quite simply, somebody better than a necro, with the same spirit of a necro.

Yeah, in the demo the guys barely lost any health or mana. But the barbarian's still conceptually really good. I'd rather play somebody really good at melee, with AoE nukes and stuns, and leap, then somebody who was really good at range and melee.

rofl, go back to wow. A hack`n slash game dont need tanks, or healers or stealthers...deathknights are coming with wotlk. Amazons had a valkyrie and assassins had traps in D2...
Several wants a ranger/rogue combo. Do you want it to be as powerfull as ranged as in close combat?!? Wont happen. Mediocre in both then? Sounds horrible. The ranged class should do massive ranged damage, and little damage in close combat. The close combat assassin should do close combat dmg. only imho.
I don't think range really matters that much. Take the Barbarian: the devs made him great at close combat, then gave him an easily spammable, long ranged leap - omg imba! Then they gave him a long ranged AoE skill, the slam - omg more imba!
But he's not imba, he's just fun. There's no reason there can't be an amazon/rogue mix.
I'm starting to lean toward a Hunter class now, though, with Archery/Javelins, pets, and traps. Pets and traps would be used to keep monsters away from the Hunter, who would be fairly weak hp wise, so he/she could pick off the monsters with range.

jeez why is everyone hating on the good ol' druid, it was my favorite class.. only thing it lacked was good hell difficulty fighting abilities. i could see every class making a comeback, aswell as some new ones like the witch doctor, which btw we don't know if he summons undead, i saw the female witch doctor bringing up a elemental pet and that wall of undead is just a wall, much like the bone wall the necro casted only it can attack. what im saying is what we saw in the gameplay footage in my opinion was high levels demonstrating just mainly lower level abilities.
by the way the game looks like its using the SC2 Engine and it looks really awesome, already canceled my AoC account hahaha.
I liked the druid too.
I really hope there's either a druid style wolf/bear shapeshifter, or a demon shapeshifter, like Illidan in W3.
I'm upset by almost everybody automatically assuming that there's going to be a paladin.

1)
Barbarian looks like he's going to be a shitload of fun, leaping and charging around. Charge and shouts will probably replace D2's paladin.
2)
Witch Doctor also has fire and ice, which makes him a bit like the sorceress/druid/necromancer mix, which is a lot.
3)
I think they've got to have a more mainstream magic caster than the Witch Doctor, so a sorcerer/elementalist seems pretty likely.
4)
Someone who is proficient with a bow is a must-have. In D2 that was the amazon, but now that we've got female barbarians, I think the amazon isn't as likely as a new archer/assassin/thief mix. (the rogue in D1 was basically just an a bow/knife wielder)
5)
That would leave one class left. Maybe...
A more healing oriented paladin (I'm hoping for something weirder)
A druid/hunter mix (only problem is this would be a bit like an Anti-Witch Doctor - but I'd love to play as a Werewolf again, or to be able to summon puppies to horribly maul my enemies)
A demon and curse oriented Necromancer (Necro of course kicks ass, and I think they could make the class sufficiently different from the Witch Doctor)
However, my bet goes to this:
A class that uses powers directly from demons and angels, and can even summon lesser demons and angels (I think this class would have a lot of potential - summon lightning from heavens, summon zergling like demons from the earth, and transform himself into a powerful being, Illidan style)

Ice
Fire (including volcanic spells)
Lightning
