Again, jay said it was an earlier dungeon I believe and that the game does progressively get darker as you go through it. Probably not exact as the photoshop pics, but what ev..we havent seen it so its hard to critisize

Bold part: I said that two posts ago because you were talking like green is creepy no matter how its used.
That pic from Saw does really look damn creepy, i really get that feeling when looking at it.
And i also see that they used the exact same green in Diablo.
BUT it still doesnt give me the slightest 'creepy' feel.
The first few times i watched the trailer, which was actually low-res, i didnt even notice it.
(But im telling you, even on the first time i got a wierd worrying feel that its somehow imperfect.)
When i watch it now, i just see a greyish green and nothing else. It doesnt give me any feel at all.
As i said before numerous times, they may keep the green light, but it has to be of good quality. It should be improved...
And im sure many people agree with me about the lighting in the game not giving a creepy feel.
Fair enough. I think you said it best earlier when you said that there is no way they could make the game to appease everyone tastes.
As for you Doppler.
LOL.
I'm still laughing where you tried to take the argument which turned into outcry and flames by you because your probably felt dumb for the things you said. It's ok. Even Kenzai get's what I'm saying about green and the aesthetics (not greens own personal cognitive psychology LOLOL) it portrays. I can see how this coversation would be pointless for you at this point. It's hard to make up something like how the color green has been portrayed over the last couple thousands of years...
So yea, you should probably quit posting thogh if you ahve nothing to contribute. Meanwhile we'll all be learning things!

You lol at me when at the same time suggesting i learn the history of green? Get a clue and learn yourself some goddamn nuance.
Wow Shakespeare used green, exept that he didn't, Shakespeare wasn't a painter genius.
You pretty much are made of fail. Want to know another funfact, green is a color that is relaxing, infact, there are things called greenrooms (i think they call it that), wich are entirely green, for one purpose only, relaxation. Your "everything green is eerie" theory is made of phail. Now, quit it.
.... Shakespeare used green in his stories when he described the creepy environments where dragons (with green eyes explained in detail) lay.
Just be quiet already. Yes, I'm lol'ing at you. Hard.:D
ExGhoul, your entire theory could have only worked if it didn't include all those things, so you basically shot yourself in the foot. gj

Look Kenzai. Your taking it out of context. we were talking about the color green and the aesthetics behind it. Now ill quote what i said.
Hi. I have a bachelors of science in psychology. What do you do?
The psychology of green? Don't you mean the aesthetics of green? And the perception it has on the brain?
....the psychology of green. lol.
Anyway, yes. green is associated with many things creepy and dark. Here, i'll pull some quotes for you.
Green is also known to have signified witchcraft, devilry and evil for its association with faeries and spirits of early English folklore. It also had an association with decay and toxicity.
Williams, Margaret. The Pearl Poet, His Complete Works. Random House, 1967.
In film the color temperature of green evokes strong emotion in being sick, cold, and scary. Ever seen the movie Saw?
Why do you think they used green over pink throughout the whole movie lol.
See the bold part. yes, green can represent life, but when you use the cold green (like that in D3, and by cold it is refferring to the temperature of the color on the spectrum scale) it gives off the green that i quoted. the green that has been used for thousands of years to be eerie, creepy, etc.
Get it? come on now. I know your a smart kid. quit looking at this as a "Im on 1 side , hes on the other" type of argument and view it more as a discussion. You get why green comes off that way? When it's set in a dungeon? Or the way it's used int he movies? You can't tell me that the green in the movie saw, or the other hundred of movies and games thst use green to be creepy and trying to represent life (though i know there are movies and games taht use green to represent life, but it's all about context).

Mr Wilson is so utterly full of shit I don't even know where to start. I would have respected him more if he had simply stated truthfully that the guys at Blizzard just prefer the Warcraft style and find the old style too dull for their tastes.
How is he full of shit? Maybe give more of an example. Like a quote or something where you think he is lying. He even explained why they chose certain things. How is that lying? lol

Ugh, there's no use. You probably have some book called "psychology for dummies" laying about wich states that green per definition makes anything that touches it eerie or whatever. You fail at nuance, your problem.
LOL.
Classic response from someone who has no argument.
Hi, again I have a psychology degree. What's funny is it doesn't even apply here but since you said "go learn psychology" I thought I would mention it.
Aesthetics in the case of this game is more closely tied to the same side as film makers and movies since we are dealing with an audience (the player) and an environment (like the stage or the set).
You can't argue about the aesthetics of the color green. just read the history of it. Even Shakespeare used green to describe things in the same manor hundreds of years ago. If you can't see how the color green comes off as creepy, eerie, cold, and uncomfortable then I feel sorry for you as you really are missing out on a key piece of video games and movies. However, I think you're just to closeminded to the affect, and now that you have chosen your side of the argument, you won;t go back lol. So you're admitting to not having valid points but just crying becasue you simply don't like it? Ok, However -
Yes, I did prove you wrong. Some had a problem with the color green being used. They said the color was out of place. I explained (with some others) why green is not out of place because of the aesthetic impact green has to the psyche of the human brain.
I showed you in a screenshot from the game that there is no green light, although you can see green rocks, stone, etc. Just because you can see it, doesn't mean there has to be some light source directly illuminating it.
And then there was the whole argument that BLizz is doing it wrong because there isn't a shroud of darkness around your toon. Some others in here explained why you have to be able to see more enemies becasue of the gameplay changes in how your character fights comapred to the previous games.
Either way, you have to prove why these decisions for these things are wrong. lol this is rediculous. Like a bad goverment, fast to say what wrong with everything but have no probably solutions to making it better.

Well, seeing as there is a side that thinks blizzard is doing things wrong - they have hardly exhausted their arguments because they don;t bring them to the table with reason.
They either say "because it's not Diablo" Even though the game they are talking is indeed called "Diablo 3."
Or it's just a simple opinion. They haven;t proved anything with their arguments and haven;t had a rational thought out argument as to why the things Blizz is doing is wrong. It's simply just not to their liking but it is in no way wrong.
Sad to say, the people here that have something to prove are the ones against the art direction of Blizzard, and it's just too easy to shoot down some of these kiddos.
Actually Kenzai, we were talking about the aesthetics behind the color green. Something you have taken a large part in as well. It is relevant when people say that green makes no sense lol.

Thanks for that awesome quote in your sig btw, thats like totally pwning anyone using the "green is eerie" argument.
Lol no it's not.
Green is naturally a eerie color. Pink is not. It's why hospitals and other places such as morgues in movies enhance the florescent lights on set. You have to be dumb not to realize the aesthetic difference that green gives compared to pink from an audiences perspective LOL
Doppel, go watch the video again.. the voice over explains how enemies summon others and must be taken out fast. thus the new game play element of the warrior having the charge through to air to kill the summoner guys first. You should really watch the video and attempt to understand the gameplay before making up such arguments. Yes, believe it or not there is a reason Blizzard is making the gameplay of the classes barbarian in such a way. It's more fun. In a recent article they explain how much better the combat is in D3 because of such things, and if everything was shrouded in black the gameplay suffers. Sorry, don't know what else to say. I just don;t think you know hwat your talkinga bout You seem to be too angry or something to even be able to open up your brain to the way gameplay works in this game instead of Blizzard simply making Diablo 2 with better graphics lol.
Kenzai -
What in the hells?
Seriously, open the trailer.
The place the character stays on is always less green and sometimes not at all.
It doesnt even look like color. (I mean color vs. light)
And those stones used there are definitely not naturally green.
Even if some places remain mostly green, there are some colors which dont have green at all.
Like where the Thousand Pounder is summoned or the dungeon exit. The same stones are used.
Unfortunately i cant take screenshots from WMP.
or course it's less green where the character is standing. You toon illuminates light around him so you can see where you are going lol. just like in the screenshot, the green by the candles is less green. this was explained last thread with the candle talk and pictures....
again, the stone is green. the green is simply less radiant when light reflects off the surface. it's like that in real life. sorry, your "because I sad so" argument isn't working and since you are the one nitpicking and challenging the art directiona nd game design.. you are the one with something to prove. I just hope future discussion you bring hold more ground.
Maybe you are confused as to what your trying to say? I'm not being a smart ass but i think it lines up with the moot point that doppler is trying to make. You see the green stones therefore you think they are "lit up" and have some sort of light source. That's wrong though. They are Not lit up. They are simply green. Just becasue you can see them doesn;t mean there is a light on them. There isn;t the shroud of darkness that is present in the other games. This is a design choice blizzard made becasue the gameplay that suppliments it is mroe fun, and the player has to be able to see.

Green stones arent better either but:

*does it hisself*
Its definitely light.
I don't know what to say. lol there is no green light. If you can't understand this simple concept there is no point in you even arguing your point because it's based on wrong information.
Don't know what else to say, sorry
And since when did all rocks and stone have to be grey again? Remember the sand colored rocks in d2? Remember the red rocks that make up the grand canyon.. in real life? Remember the limestone that illuminates green in caves across the world.. in real life?
Drop the green light argument, it's based on false information which is simply you saying "Well, I think it's green light" LOL. Again, look at the screenshot I posted. I don't know how better to explain that the rocks are green, the light is orange (see the torches) lol.
sandman-
I have to take Blizzards word on it that it tried and it didn't work.
Do you have a link to this? I don;t remember them saying they tried to get it that way.... it's simply they didn;t want to because the game is simply better and plays better they way they are taking it. It's not like they are saying "Sorry to you whiney crybabu fans! We wanted it the way you do! But we are not that good at making games just yet!"

There are already torches in the game, but they are more like decoration as the sourceless green light is our main lighting.
Either make the green light better somehow and add a source, or remove it and make the torches the main light source. (We need more and/or bigger ones of course.)
Ugh. Here we go again. There is no green light.. there are rocks and stone that have a green tint. You see the only light in the shot are from the torches and lanterns... which give off the orange glow onto the green rock.
Now please. move on from the green light source argument when there doesn't need to be a light source for the green illuminating from the rock int he first place. This came to closure in the other thread that was closed, please don't get this topic closed either by dragging it out.
Again, there is no green light. The rocks are green. The light is orange. You can see the orange light refracting from the green rock.

The plural form of "you". (Hope that was used correctly.)
