how is putting a game that has been in development for 4 years behind a cut and paste revamp with a new shiny coat of wax that took only a year or so to develop, how is that equal? these has to be more to it then that.
Well that shiny cut and paste IS their money. WE may love diablo a lot, but there's millions of MORE people that love WoW. And don't misread me, I'm not saying D3 isn't important. What I'm saying is that they see that D3 is / going to be very popular. If I was Blizzard and I anticipated huge ticker tape parades with diablo's announcement, I'd most defiantly do a press event with panda land, get everyone excited about it, THEN drop diablo. If they did it the other way around, panda land might get covered up =D
I just mean, I was under the immpression that they would announce as soon as they knew. With this:
"you'll know as soon as I'm allowed to say. And no, I'm not allowed to say when that is."
Seems like they do know, and are supposed to hold it for a bit for some reason. Aka panda tour
yep could be
they prob had a big meeting last month after the share holders meeting about when to announce it
after two hours of discussions mike prob just said
" say it after we talk about MoP, not before as we want to focus on MoP for a week"
p.s "do not tell anyone that the game will go live on april 29th"
if that is the case why is D3 taking the backseat to WoW. WoW is old news it has had its time in the sun. It's like having to wait for the bloated fat guy to go through the door before you can... I think they know that D3 will outshine MoP
Well, it's old news to you and me, but to the other 10 mill subs + it still isn't. Even though as we get older and realize (regretfully) the amount of time wasted on it, there's still more, younger kids just picking it up and having a blast. WoW is a very unique game in that Blizzard gets to decide when to kill it, as it will always have fans. As such, it makes sense to hype up some panda fans (as most people don't follow diablo on forums or websites, so it's just in the back of their minds) and then drop a date.
Not sure if it's already been discussed but there's a tweet from Bash I just saw talking about how 'all the info will be dropped on the 19th'. Of course he could be talking about MoP for all I know. any thoughts?
semantics. they are still on track for early 2012, which is what we thought. so im still technically right. and JUST like i said they will announce the release date a few weeks after the call. BOOM baby. riiight on da monayyy
not semantics at all, it was not the release they wanted, if it was still on track, we would have got the release date, so no.. your right because you were wrong... wrap your head around that!
cmon man... what did we know? we knew that it was 'early 2012' which is jan 1 - june 29th. and since the second half of that is 99.9% of Q2 then a Q2 release could be suspected from "early 2012" so it still hasnt changed. the only thing that has changed is the possibility of it being in the first half of what they told us. wither they said "we were gonna get it out in the first part half of what we told you, but now its the second half of what we told you" is irrelevant.
the only way i would be wrong is if it was past early 2012. which Q2 isnt. there hasnt been a "delay" of any kind. as bashiok said all we ever were told was early 2012.
At least somebody around here understands. *hugs beta*. I mean FFS all these people suddenly calling a delay, when in fact they could give us a date tomorrow and it would hit inside their Q2, and all that happened was we waited a day. For all we know they picked may 1st as a date, back in the original, only delay of 2011. That's inside early 2012, and is also Q2. And even if there WAS an internal delay, we can't get all mad because they didn't tell us a date, and then change it.
Everyone says that activision/blizz conference calls are always boring and that's what I also thought until I found this from two years back:
"Less than half an hour ago, Activision-Blizzard revealed to their investors - and with them, to the entire world - that the Starcraft 2 beta is ready to be launched this month, February 2010."source
In my opinion, this is a huge announcement to make since sc2 was delayed just like d3 (hopefully longer than d3, yet to be seen), and yes, I do know that this was "just" a beta announcement
So yeah, unexpected things can happen in these meetings.
Something has to happen, it's just logic. The investors know just as much as we do, and are just as eager to hear news. Either;
A. D3 release date announcement!
B. D3 has been pushed back.
C. D3 is staying the same
Now the option C is unlikely because all we have to go on is 'early' 2012. If they don't say anything but 'its on track', that HAS to mean it's still soon. This, of course coinciding with Blizzard keeping early 2012 = ~4 months in, mayyyyybe 5.
imho we will hear one of these three, and most likely A or B. I say this because if they are still on track with their original, internal date, then they should be next to solid that they will hit that date, and why not announce it ? =D
I know I shouldn't let myself get all excited (all you debby downers out there calling a 2013 already >< ) but hell, it's way more fun to get stoked about something, then just be all melancholy the whole time
Battlenet Support sites will be undergoing maintenance Weds. 2/7 starting at 12AM PST ending 9AM PST. Acct Mgmt should remain unaffected.
Here we go again.
i dont get whats going on
Maitenence for the the Battle bucks most likely.
I agreed with you when I read your post, but then thought; They said the beta bucks is now live, 6 hours ago. Now of course it's possible it just immediately broke and they need further maintenance, but don't crush my soul D=
Oh man. If they revert back to damn skill trees ima rage =P Yea I'm hoping it's just a power switch ya know, numbers. Hopefully
yea def. they had skill trees awhile ago but i never like them in any game... i loved this new no skill points system with runes. even though alot of people raged about it i think its revolutionary!
about my build: thats the point, the 29% crit is just starting out. i plan on getting another 21% from my gear to make it an even 50% so at least every other attack will crit, and when Weapon throw crits it returns double fury to do it 2 more times because of no escape passive. also when i user overpower i get another 17% crit for a few seconds as well. So i just need my initial fury and then as long as im attacking ill basically have never ending fury. or at the very least itll last long enough until my CD's are done.
Ah gotcha. Yea I've never been a fan of skill trees, they were just like a necessary evil.
If I may be so bold, I'm not sure what our crit will be at in inferno =P It might just stay the same, but IMO I would change your ancient spear to maybe bash with the rune that stacks extra damage to like 40% or something =P But hell for all i know it'l work =)
this makes me believe they did more then just "tweak" the skill system for the demon hunter. bleh...
Shitty. I'm trying to come up with an excuse as to why 'new skill system in beta?' And 'it will appear in beta' doesn't mean what it sounds like >< You know what, I'm going in this with open arms. I'm going to completely fanboy it up, and say I trust in Blizzard that they know what's awesome. Hell maybe I'll hate the current system after I see the new one =D I mean for instance, I would have played the shit out of the 2008 D3, but after seeing the current version, I can't go back =P
well i just hope its changing skills effects/power not changing the "6 active, 3 passive" no skill tree system. i effing hate skill trees -_-. if they bring them back because of all the QQing im going to be so mad
Oh man. If they revert back to damn skill trees ima rage =P Yea I'm hoping it's just a power switch ya know, numbers. Hopefully
I know me too. I hope either we are miss reading them (because Bash said they are tied together, so maybe he really did just mean runes) or if they change it, it isn't too drastic. I've come to love the skill system just the way it is, and was under the impression most people liked it? Hopefully they are just changing runes, and maybe a slight skill tweak is required to make both effective.
my sentiments exactly. *crosses fingers*. id say by the end of next week we will have the new "skill system" in the beta or at the very least a write up of what it is.
I just went through his tweets again. No where does he say the skills system is being completely revamped =D He does say the rune system is, and then people ask about skills and he says they are linked. The only other tweet about it would be when he says something along the lines of 'a small tweak' for skills. So I really don't think they are being redone, instead this leads me to believe what I said earlier; They just need to slightly adjust for whatever reason, to make the runesystem work =D

Edit: On a complete sidenote Gladhehasbeta, your barb build confuses me =) You have no straight fury generator that you can spam if you don't crit, since your other's have a CD. Just saying =D
wait wtf? they are making a new SKILL system? i thought they were just working on how runes dropped n shit....? wtffffff
Sad but true.
no wonder its been taking so long.... i REALLY hope they dont fuk it up because i love the skill system the way it is....

Edit: Answered my own question by reading farther into it; It's about MoP's NDA. nvm lol
'probably no more beta patches'
9/10
'in the coming weeks' (weeks ago)
'counting down the days'
'pvp postponed for release'

lmfao jaysus
