I'm ok with this, All that did was set up for people creating dupes in game.
That's one way to look at it however there are tons of people that really enjoy playing D2 on TCP/IP with friends/family so that they can enjoy the pure D2 experience instead of having to go on toxic battle.net where people will have unfair advantages anyway. And them shutting down TCP/IP gameplay really only means that they've given up and/or are unwilling to commit more resources into making it 'safe', as they say. Besides, they promised.
And by now they've surely found a way to ensure that duped items from local gameplay won't make it into the online game anyway - this coupled with the fact that there WILL be hacks and bots online again just makes me think that there's no good reason for them to go back on their promise.
