Their response should be dissatisfaction and anger. There is nothing shameful in being molested or raped, it's about time government beat that into their citizens' heads.
Are you saying that someone being raped doesn't matter or just that it shouldn't be recurrently brought up every time that person is around?
I wonder what they'd say after going through that- I mean, a child hasn't gone through puberty yet, and there aren't many kids that talk about sexual abuse, so I don't think they'd understand what really happened when they were molested... or something... It's gross to think about. No child should ever encounter a situation like that
I don't see how getting money out of it would help the child recover from such a traumatic experience, but I'd definitely take him out, and probably report the whole incident to whoever would listen, in the hopes that it would eventually get in to the news, which can ruin anyone's life in an instant

Now that I think of it, though, it would help with psychotherapy if it was ever needed in the future because of the child's experience... Hm...
