To defer to my avatar's poetic words: "This world is ruled by violence, but I guess that's better left unsaid."
As a peace corp. volunteer who's worked closely with the military in the past, i'll say that there are redeeming persons and qualities in the US armed forces, but I also have to agree they've been as much a problem as any human creation. Your biggest concern with the military right now would probably be the government budget cuts. The boots of today are not going to recieve the lavish vet. benefits of previous generations and i'm quite skeptical of anyone who says the boys and girls in uniform will always be taken care of.
Perhaps I know too much of history to appreciate all this, but I seriously hate the V-mask shtick. Guy Fawkes was a catholic zealot who wanted to bomb the house of lords, not to end an authoritarian regime, but to institute a new theocratic one.
There's absolutely nothing heroic about what he (Fawkes) did unless you're a vatican-worshiping nutter who thinks the world would be better off under the rule of Emperor Benedict XVI.
That said, V was a pretty good movie and I really have no opinion of the elite hackers in question here. Just dropping the historical buzzkill.

Pff, the Chinese are way ahead of us in this regard too.
