Oh well, I guess I fail for browsing. I suppose it's a pipe dream anyway; if this board is any indication, the world is going to catch on fire if we don't get a Ranger class.
Bear with me for a moment, please. I'm not sure if something like this has been posted or not, but I think it would be food for thought. We all probably have our opinions as to what the 5th class SHOULD be, but I would like to share something I would like to see, that could feasibly be a class (if not at launch, possibly at expansion).
As the title suggests, I'm thinking some sort of fighter-mage class. Imagine a warrior in full plate, as a paladin was, but wielding arcane magic rather than divine power. Kind of like an Enchant-based Sorc from D2, but with a lot more melee options and a lot more durabilty. Also, it would somewhat solve the problem of a lack of a "Knight" class while steering clear enough of the much-maligned Paladin archetype to be interesting.
Let me be clear, this guy would not function as a spellslinger; while capable of dealing with foes at range, he would be outclassed by the Wizard in such a role. His technique would revolve around self-buffs, possibly auras, and heavy melee spell damage.
Anyway, sorry for the wall of text; what do you guys & gals think?
