Im also not about the leaderboards, but am clearing GR25 right now (was up at 27 with wreath) I typically use the grifts as a measure of how well my builds are working. I know there are good grift rolls and bad rolls in terms of density and map layout, so I usually try to do 4 or 5 and see what the average is. Same with trials... I was netting 27 and 28 keys with wreath and atm Im netting 25 and 26, but trapped isnt at 25 yet either. I know this build will never be a chart topper, but Im always looking to see how far I can push it with my play style (I really dont like the WW/FC build I have seen used to hit in the GR35 range)
If I can land a wyrmward, I will look at swapping out the SoJ. That 25% damage will negate the hexing pants reduction when standing still, so I will still have good single target damage. Im pretty sure I dont have on in the stash right now.
Well, I tried the hexing pants for a few grift trials and runs. Not the biggest fan of constant spinning. I like to stand still to hit single targets and groups didnt seem to fall too much faster with them than without them. Trapped does proc with my thunderfury as everything the lightning hits is slowed by 30% for 3 seconds. So yes Im slowing the whole group, but it's randomly hitting 5 enemies at a time. Also using Frenzy/Smite, I am stunning single targets, which also procs trapped. Speaking of stunning, using hexing pants means I always am using WW, which means I never stun anyone and renders my Vaxo ammy useless. Those two extra clones come in handy in big fights against elites and RGs.
I forgot about that part. Again, Im only at level 5 with it, so it will take a little while to get it up to that point.
As far as Frenzy/FC, mirinae would work much better. I have one leveled up to about 18 or so before I started on toxin. It's great for single targets, but while I was using it with wreath, it only proc'd off my actual physical hits. Even WW proc'd it less than Frenzy did. Maybe at 25 with the every 5 seconds proc it might be better for WW, but it's really just a single target cannon. I use Frenzy for guardians and single elites and WW for groups until they whittle down to a couple of mobs, then swap back to frenzy to clean them up faster. This is the main reason Im not running hexing pants, I dont want to lose 25% damage on a single target and frenzy hits pretty hard.
Well, I was using wreath for the procs for pain enhancer and toxin, which was working well. I swapped out wreath for trapped to check it out and even at level 5, Im only running one or two grifts lower than with a level 25 wreath, so it's working out better. I have tried teaguk before and didnt like the downtime. I have bad luck in grifts where I find large areas with nothing and I drop the stacks. I also use the passive that gives extra damage at full resource, so I dont like to spam Battle Rage while running between areas to keep the stacks up.
Oh and I will say that trapped probably wouldnt have worked out well without my Thunderfury as I wouldnt have had any control impairment other than Frenzy/Smite, which is only single target. At least Thunderfury can hit 5 enemies when it procs.
Even with 85% lightning damage? It's hitting crits of 2mil on everything it touches for the most part. I know thats not super high end compared to other crtis, but it's a good aoe for me. I will try swapping it with trapped and see what happens, but typically wreath is decent for me.
Ok, so at the moment Im using Pain Enhancer, Wreath of Lightning, and Gem of Toxin. Would it be worth swapping out the Pain Enhancer for Bane of the Trapped? I just recently learned about how different things are multiplicative and it seems "trapped" multiplies everything else on top. So wreath of lightning starts the chain by poisoning mobs, giving them 10% increased damage then as I move in with WW, trapped will multiply that damage by another 15% when I get close enough with the aura.
Or is the pain enhancers DOT enough to counter act the 15% increase of all incoming damage?
