until there are always online and leaderboards/seasons, there won't be any editors.

These type of subjects only leave some of us to realize, you just started playing?

Let's take a step back to release. Apparently you either forgot or were NOT there to know better. Act1 Inferno was our "endgame". To beat Ghom was your main achievement (Bragging rights). The so called endgame back then was this thing we called AUCTION HOUSE. To some of us, not anyone that agrees with the OP, but some of us, we remember when there wasn't no game at all, let alone this endgame you speak of. No rifts, no bounties, no paragon, NO THING. There was maybe 50 legendaries total.

In today's game there is more "Endgame" than anything we once knew. Imagine only running the act you've made it into as your endgame. Seriously, run act 3 for 1000 hours then come back and make your so called points. As some of us see it, your point is old by many years. In fact if you ever played d2 you would see that there was never a endgame in the diablo series. You simply just grind forever.

No, I've never played D2 seriously, just did one run of the first two difficulties to know the story background.
I'm here on d3 since vanilla... and act 3 runs, and ghom farming, and RMAH, and bad droprates, and repairs that were more expensive than what you earned from the runs done in an afternoon.
Yes, RoS brought some good improvements...and some other issues.
Nobody said it's now worse than before, but still the endgame is not what I'd like to play to.
Grind forever? yes, of course diablo is a game of grind. It' s an arpg, where clickclickclick-loot is the core of the gameplay, Still, when d2 launched it was a different world than it is now. Grind can exist the same, but there could be some improvements in it to make it less brainless and boring. For me (and some other people you can read in the forums) there could still exist some QoL and gameplay addictions to make the game more suitable to my desires. As said elsewhere, a cap to PL, "diminishing returns" to stats improvements, something to do in the endgame different than just farming exp.
Nothing ensures me that everybody will agree, or that blizz would ever do anything to follow these suggestions, but still here is my opinion. You're free to disagree. It's not a game for hardcore grinders only. It's a game for everybody who blizzard wants to sell the game too.
And blizzard knows well who is the larger population who brings income, so time will tell.
Get over it and do something else? already done. Stopped at 650pl time ago, no season, uninstall and just play a bit on the ps4 (as it was a gift from friends.) from time to time.

I didn't make any reference to other games, saying it's better or worse.

Probably you're right that it's a common issue in this genre of games.

I played tl2, van helsing, tq...but not d2. these are single player games, without bnet or any other form of "competitive" gameplay, so it was different

But as you quoted poe, i played it a few hundreds hours: yes, the endgame is getting to the top level, and only some players can do it because of maps, exp loss, etc. The gameplay is clunky and don't like it so much, so because of many factors i quitted it.

Still, the build/skills system is interesting, there is a reason to play new leagues..and a char can be considered at the endgame in the 80 range, when if you don't want to struggle for 100, can start to work towards a build and minmaxing, as there is a wide choice.

Trading is slow and "old" as there is not an ah that could make it much easier....but still has an appeal to many.

endless pl does not address the issue of the longevity, it's just repetition...numbers.

D3 has a short loot hunting, as there is no enough variety in itemisation and the best way to have loot is just use the cube recipe or kadala, and nor of them is pleasant.

Trading can be endgame, if there is enough item variety so that it's not just looking for 2-3 mandatory rare pieces per class.

Leaderboards is pvpve or something similar, not pvp. And it's just about spending time farming pl, not players' skills.

about loot tables: I think that the actual drop system is not bad.

what is bad is the poor itemisation that at each patch forces players to use one or two builds per class...after copypaste cookiecutter builds and getting that few gear required, it's all about your pl.

I don't like pvp, still endless pl farming is not an endgame. everything would be better.

    Unlimited exping is not endgame.

Loot hunting, trading, pvp should be.

posted a message on (request) Console section !

I think that a brand new section would be great for lfg and trade.

because of modding, legit players like me can t use matchmaking and it slows down the process of finding a game.

the issue is even more evident with trade..without a ah or the possibikity to give your match a name..

I love your site, but as a ps4 player it's very tough to filter pc or console posts...especially about lfg and trade.

please create a specific subforum for console players!

posted a message on The State of PARAGON and an example how to fix it (Paragon Leagues)

Make pl higher than xxx ininfluent on chars performance, but reward exp with cosmetic stuff, not stats.

keep a leaderboard just about exp... and another one about grifts, the latter being affected only by build, gear and player's skill(and luck to roll the right mobs/map).

It would save both serial grinders and competitive theorycrafters..without bracketing people.

Each season would last 1-2 weeks if they capped para. There would be no reason to play.

yes. but do you call longevity stacking pl endlessly? it would last 2weeks because the game offers 2weeks of contents.
still you can leave infinite pl for those who want to, but cap the stats contribution so there is a competition at least on an aspect of the game. nolifers will continue to stack lvls and have their numbers to show in level baeed leaderboards (and portraits or wings or so), but other people can try to compete on grifts fighting for the highest possible. (with other rewards too)
ps: exping is just one of the things you can do in the endgame, people used to trade. see PoE or any other arpg.

posted a message on Another simple idea about PL.

well, actually it's the endgame: more pl---> higher grift level.

imho, it doesn t work. it wouldn t work anyways, but especially with bots and exploits and such.

so, a easy solution to make it challenging (in absence of pvp or any form of competition, as grinding pl cannot be considered competition):

    - put a cap to pl

    OR

    - put a soft level cap:

1 much less difference in primary stat between ie a 700 and a 900 than between a 100 and a 300. (diminishing returns?)

2 after a certain pl, just increase in %legendaries, gold, OR simply just special portraits or more stash tabs.

it would give more importance to players skill than exp grinding..and more importance to gear and builds.

this game seems a better Graphics version of clicker heroes.

posted a message on Against endless Paragon Level.

Leaderboards, as a form of pvp(ve), if you really want to "reward" who deserves ot, should be independent from exp and other stuff.

make people start from the same condition, with a wider choice of builds and better rng/class balance not tightly linked to grind...then see who is the best.

but d3 is not this kind of game.

moba s are competitive. fps. not arpgs.

competition and farming are opposites. farming goes with bots and no life, not with player skill.

and an endless exp farming is not endgame, is just a stick with a rotting carrot.

I don't care about competition so ok....the issue is that there is nothing else to do ingame because the "true game" is grinding pl, copy-paste builds. nothing else to do, at the moment.

    nor challenge, nor fun.

it s fun how people try to deny the obvious.

a system that rewards you with a +15/20% stats increase is definitely telling you that it is what they want you to do to be competitive. anything else is semantics and philosophy.

just like the gw2 thing: you don t need ascended, it s bis gear but don t need it...and agony resistance? just skip fotm.

    "skill" "experienced players".

    funny.

posted a message on Against endless Paragon Level.

If grifts is "competition"...everybody should be the same, as in many pvp games.

same gear and stats, then it's everything up to your skills, builds strategy and team.

ok a "tutorial" of 20-50hrs and then start the real endgame. but here there is no endgame and just increasing numbers disguised as endgame, without any form of fun.

It's just AI botting..or human botting, as you simply do the same thing like a robot.

even loot hunting is repetitive, but it's still better than exp...especially if there is a fair/balanced trade and reasonable build variety, not just ONE BiS and ONE cookiecutter build per class.

What to do once you have all BiS?

Do another class...wait for new game mechanics to be introduced? new builds to master? new items or maps?

    like in poe.

    endless exp is not longevity.
