posted a message on BlizzCon predictions
Haven't seen a post dedicated to predictions. If it exists, sorry for the duplication. There are plenty of predictions spread around these forums I thought maybe we could put them all in one place. I will be attending BlizzCon, here's what I expect to see.

    Diablo:

5th Class - Ranger/ranged class of some kind.
    New zone for demo
New game mechanic, sounds like its gonna be pvp. yawn.
We are DEFINITELY NOT gonna get a release date or beta info for D3.

    Starcraft:

probably nothing. maybe some info on HotS but I'm not counting on it.

    Warcraft:

    Warcraft 4?!?!?!? I wish.
Nothing really left to say about cataclysm.

I am definitely seeing an announcement of a new game franchise. Much to my dismay. I always feared the day Blizzard strayed from its bread and butter franchises of Diablo/SC/WC and I think that day is on Friday. Stupid Activision. I would love for the next gen MMO to be StarCraft based but I doubt it.

Overall its gonna a big day for Diablo fans and for the new game. I think StarCraft and WarCraft fans kinda get shut out this BlizzCon.

    Just my predictions.

    My dream BlizzCon?

Awesome new D3 content revealed (zones, pve stuff, story)
    WarCraft 4 announced.
    StarCraft 2 expansion news

posted a message on What would kill the game for you?
    Quote from MaggotsGalore

Just wondering what you guys would be considered game-breaking to Diablo 3, and make it a game you don't even want to look at.

I would like to see what you guys think, and also, maybe what you would do if these nightmares came true.

No depth. It's been 10 years since Diablo 2 and if all we get is Diablo 2 in 3D then i'm gonna be pissed. I want MANY more quests, long quest chains both mandatory and optional, deeper, more meaningful interactions with NPCs. Diablo made the dungeon crawler genre, many clones have come along, now its time for Diablo 3 to be the best dungeon crawler to date. If it is comparable in size and depth to Titan Quest then it is an epic failure. So far I'm just seeing a prettier Titan Quest. I am hoping it is so much more.

posted a message on Skill Bonanza!
Even in Diablo 2 with 30 skills per character, about 25 of them were completely useless. I am very excited to hear about 700 potential skill combos but I have serious doubts that more than a small handful will be useful, especially late game. Also, I hope they don't count fireball lvl 1 2-4 damage and fireball lvl 2 3-5 as two different skills.

And so Blizzard's downfall begins. Soon they'll be making MMOs like Spore or The Sims, you know games with "broader appeal"

posted a message on Towns, Town Portals, and Waypoints :(
    Quote from "TheBuzzSaw" »
I've always felt that the Town Portals were too easily abused.

    (1) - They can be cast virtually anywhere outside of town.
    (2) - The collapsing portals could be overcome by using a teammate's.
    (3) - They removed the real danger of being out in the wild.

For D3, I hope that Town Portals will be heavily restricted. My friend and I had the idea of banning Town Portals from our games (just the two of us). No more popping back to town to restock on everything. Our idea was that we'd have to make a trek back to the waypoint. If the waypoint was far away, we'd be tempted to just soldier on with less resources.

Another thing that bothered me was Blizzard's failure at making the various towns/acts seem physically far apart. Sure, the radically different styles made them seem far apart, but the only act transition that gave the sense of travel was act 3 to act 4 since there was a portal in Mephisto's area. Otherwise, you always returned to town, talked to someone, and warped to the next area. For D3, I hope you actually have to travel and work to reach a new area.

I agree. In D2 I always had a tome of 10 or so tp scrolls. Warping to town was WAY too easy. I like the idea of tp but they need to drastically reduce the drop rate of tp or make them really expensive. Something, anything. D3 in general needs to more tactical. I'm gonna say it, a little more like WoW.

posted a message on Does anyone prefer a Diablo 2 Expansion over Diablo 3?
This is the worst post ever. A D2 expansion over D3?! Are you kidding?! You are no longer allowed to post about your wants in D3 because its obvious what you want: D2. So go play it. Embrace change people.

I love what I've seen so far with D3 but the corpses and blood could hang around the ground a bit longer IMO.

Lets see, 48000+ signatures, impressive. That leaves only 3,952,000 or so people who either like D3 the way it is or don't care and trust in Blizzard to make a great game. I hope Blizzard doesn't change D3 just please a relatively small number of people. I think you guys want D2 in 3D. The worst possible thing Blizzard can do is make another D2. Is this what you guys want in the end? I want a deeper more immersive game world. Sorry if you disagree but adding some color here and there is gonna help accomplish this. If a few things need to be borrowed from WoW too then so what. WoW is great game. Blizzard, please leave the game as is, it looks great!

It is now over a year before this game even comes out and i am sitting here at the end of my workday reminiscing on the last 8 hours of my life. Inbetween doing work and scratching my balls (you guys know what i mean), all i have been doing is refreshing these forums and looking up any new info i can get on this game.. A YEAR IN ADVANCE..

What im really trying to say is.. if im already this addicted (oh, and i have a good and eventful life, its not even that i have nothign better to do)... how the hell am I gonna be when this game actually comes out?

    anyone feeling the same?

You sound just like me. I have watched both the cinematic and gameplay trailers dozens of times, scoured the internet for more info than whats available on Blizzard's site. This is deja vu for me, I went through the exact same thing when D2 was in production. Damn Blizzard, they need to stop making games for a bit so I can get something done!

I was also a tad confused by the trailer honestly it looks like way way to many enemies, i guess im really looking for another d2, i dont like change very much.

Are you kidding?! The worst thing that Blizzard can do in my opinion is make Diablo 2 in 3D. I want Diablo 3 to be deeper and have a much more immersive game world. Deeper interactions with NPCs, many more quests per act, more involved combat system and a much, much larger game world. If they have to steal a few ideas from WoW, so be it. WoW is a great game. I worry that they are gonna tone down the Havok physics to make D3 compatible with a wider variety of PCs. Also, I welcome the new art direction, it's gonna bring Sanctuary to life. Sanctuary is a whole world. Somewhere there are flowers and butterflies and rainbows. I trust that the contrast between this and the dark places in Sanctuary are gonna really bring it to life. So far I'm loving what I'm seeing but I worry that Blizzard is gonna feak out and tone everything back down to D2 levels to appease.

I worry that some douchebag exec at Activision is gonna ruin Blizzard by forcing them to make crappy console games. I smell the end of Blizzard's reign at the top of PC gaming.

Great job Blizzard! Diablo 3 looks gorgeous. I believe a game can have some bright colors (especially in an outdoor area!) and still have a dark, gothic feel. You have pulled this off so far with Diablo 3. Having a dark gothic feel goes beyond what colors you use in the environment, unfortunatly a lot of people cannot see past this.
